How about the viewership and marketing part of this? $1 million tournament had like 10k viewers? That sounds like a failure to me. It didn't seem to get much attention at all, although I did see a pcgamer article afterwards.

my guess is that they check library and playtime of every open profile in steam... dont know if that is possible, though
