I find it interesting these VQ3 players are so adamant that reflex will fail, and the explanations I hear are merely buzzwords like "CPM clone" and "17 players." So winz, please give us your justifications for your propositions, would be appreciated. Also "logical failure"; what is that exactly?

i dont believe it will succeed if it's just cpm minus q3, but if they build onto it, i think it has a great chance.

good bot support(if someone leaves a pub, a bot takes their place. a new player automatically takes the bots spot)
voice support(trash talking in between rounds or warmup would be epic. copy gears of war, they did it perfectly)
grapplehook modes for new players
built in tutorials
better weapon/powerup design(weapons just need slight changes. powerups need to be overhauled tho)
better maps that suit the movement(most old cpm maps are crap for movement)
keep the sick cpm netcode
steam support

if it has all that, i believe it has a great chance at topping quakelive.
and most of the other new arena fps games.

#1 Cypher - if he keeps the shape hes had for the last 3 weeks or so, if not #2
#2 Rapha - I feel like Raphas aim has gotten more consistent and tighter over the years, the times where his acc drops these days tend to be the when it doesnt matter and his opponent was trying to leave the fight anyways.
#3 Dahang - historically seems to play at a higher level with more consistency than evil atm.
#4 Evil - <3 evil but hes not in the shape he was in 2012 DHW, top 8 for sure but wont make the finals I fear. his +forward style is just so punishing without that aim.

#5 Doomsday/ZeRo4/ZorakWar/whaz/chance/dkt/dem0n/Spart1e - these knuckleheads are all wildcards who could turn up in any kind of shape and finish anywhere top 6, possibly even knocking out dahang or evil above. I havent seen much of Doomsday or ZorakWar but I trust their elo isnt lying.

Strenx - <3 strenx but hes out of shape and didnt start sweating early enough. I doubt hell break top 8.

Tox - his aim isnt consistent enough, in QL people seem able to trap him and do more damage, throwing off his control. Thats why he cant run control for 10 minutes and crush. I dont think its likely to change either sadly. Top 16 but not top 10.

Dem0n - out of shape, it seems to take him months to get into peak shape too.

ins wont break top 10 - too inconsistent with aim and undisciplined in the fights he takes.

I of course hope I'm wrong, I hope every player shows up in the kind of shape that comes from playing 6 hours a day for months and things plateau. Then we could get more close games and finer gradiations of skill on display. Unfortunately with so many people going inactive and no whirlwind of excitement months before qcon I think we'll see a lot of blowouts and 10-0 scorelines, even in the later stages.&#65279;

Sure sure... You just seem to forget those tons of experience Evil has accumulated through the last year, including the past qcon and the killing sprees he confidently provided during a number of Facy and 125fps bouts,

and the fact that he is deliberately gearing down from time to time, in order to let his central processing unit to cool down a bit (specially before THE major event),

and the fact that he is the man of solid granite calm and nerves of top quality spaceship-grade stainless steel, combined with stunningly fierce, but chessmate-deep analytical swordstyle.

Because, you know - "a game of Quake is like a swordfight, you must think first before you move".

Raffer and Cyfer are really worthy adversaries, and as much as I love Evil, I'd say - all three of them are pretty much on par with each other, with any tiny quantum fluctuation being the decider of who tops whom.


As for other guys - would love to see Spartissimo to vent his drugged head and spark through the Dallas sky as an unstoppable comet to the first place. EOD (End of dream).
