i wouldn't call gaiia or memphis great players. sure they are doing nice now, but i think the general skillpool is a lot smaller nowadays. cpm haven't had a really competitive scene for a long time.

gaiia is a monster... his mechanical skills are unbelievable, and he is certainly one of the best players to have played the game.

i'm not convinced :/ winning some kenya maps tournament or vs out of shape emo hal9000 doesn't do it for me.

Then you don't know the community too well, he recently won the CPM Masters Duel Cup, and put his team on his back in the CTF Draft tournament. His combination of aim, and movement are almost unparalleled, and outside of gellehsak, there are no other players who can challenge him for #1 spot in cpm.

i think that's the problem. no great players to challenge him. i'm not saying he's not the best now. i'm saying it is easier to be the best now than it was when the community was more active.

Just watch him play, guy would have been a beast in any cpm era.

i know you are referring to the comments made by ddk and nekon, but still... against funnyb who hasn't touched cpm24 since 2008, 2009 like they said right after.

the main point though is that the meta has progressed and while the overall skill level in cpm is probably lower, I think memph gaiia and hal are at least equal to players like vo0 and rat (though they themselves would never say that).

Vo0 maybe, rat no. to me rat is the best ever, winning many tournaments and even the overseas games with 100+ ping vs apheleon. afair Vo0 was considered a top dueler with flashy style, but didn't get much reckognition within the scene until he started to dominate PK, making people from outside the CPM scene to get interested in his gaming history and thus elevating his CPM skill to the level of his PK dominance with the noob viewpoint they had for the CPM mechanics. too bad challenge tv is gone. would be so much easier to check from there some results :/

Vo0 was flashy as hell but I never thought his movement was insane.
Sure he could pull some sick rjs, but he could never pull off trick jumps like hal9000/mew
Vo0 has even gone on to say that he hates practicing trick jumpingi(was said during a stream)

Disagree. Average standard of CPM dueler was better in Vo0's prime than now. Hal/gelle/gaiiaa looks more prominent partially due to this reason. They will probably be equal.
