They have all the things required but not everything is put in place yet. North korea proved to the West that they can finally achieve the technology they want when they succeeded with the recent launch. They are very dangerous indeed.

If the US is going to start the nuclear strike it is possible that NK to hit the US. It is quite realistic to consider that this would produce very serious political turmoil in the US, with the actual government almost for sure being forced to resign. The US will not hit NK with nuclear strikes.

Even if the North will attack the South I am not so sure about the scale of the US help for their counter parts, because the tensions in the region. They will most likely use South Korea as a proxy in this war, with both countries revolving to regular armies.

The real danger to the US foreign influence is represented by the fact that the NK can give a go for nuclear strikes anytime. I'd say that for the first time in this century the military initiative is not in the hand of the US, who is forced to take defensive steps in order the assure its strategic position in the Pacific. And we all know that the Americans are not state of the art when we talk about defensive fight, especially with the most recent huge drop in the quality of its products, weapons included -hello, Rockefellers, hello corruption (see i.e. the actual rocket shield system which was deployed in Turkey, east Europe and whoever, which has at its best 50% accuracy, thanks in part to the low quality of the radars -but I bet the system is shit overall).

Nuclear capabilities are leveling up everything else. Nuclear weapon's strength is that they make the number of armed troops and material to not matter anymore. The US is not the strongest army anymore, it is just that they did not realize this yet.
The fate of the war is not decided by the weakest weapons the armies are using. Millions of soldiers and 30 naval ships armed to the teeth are nothing after 2 precise nuclear strikes.

US has technology working for them that is why they don't need such a huge army not to mention this army is actually well trained. NK has maybe, what, 500k to 1m professionally trained soldiers and the rest is just there as cannon fodder.
'Precise' nuclear attack is not that easy to perform actually. I'm not saying they can't do it but still. US defense is not relying on naval vessels but on aircraft and that's the spear point of US army. Always has been always will be. As long as they have air supremacy US has a pretty good chance to finish this with low casualties. But it really depends on how far the US is prepared to go. IMO they won't invade the country like they did with IRAQ and Afghanistan but will destroy everything they can from air and sea.

Now, what are you smoking? Bringing down rockets with the planes? I don't think that that strategy worked well during Desert Storm campaign, when Iraqi rockets hit Israel. You obviously missed recent news and the anti-missile shield programs.

Aircraft is used in precise targeting and massive bombardments whose role is to cripple enemy's moves and its war production. It may also be used against enemy attacks on the ground, although the importance of aerial bombardments in massive terrestrial confrontations is largely disputed. I think that quite recently one article on Tomdispatch.com sustained my point of view, which is that the importance of aircraft in wars when "all the options are on the table" is exaggerated -don't say about the intervention in Jugoslavia, which was a low scale and static war.

It does have close to nothing against a nuclear attack -which was not ever tested before.

The only problem with the air war is in surface to air missles. Doubt NK is very advanced in that department as you mentioned Iraq, they barely downed 2 aircraft during the entire campaign.
Aircraft have been the spear point of any army since ww2. Aircraft play a huge role not to mention how big the emphasis are on aircraft carriers which are regarded as ones that can win a war single handedly (ask Japan during the Midway battle). Also aircraft can deliver nuclear weps anywhere in the world.
What planes can't win over is territory but they can greatly lower land forces casualties.
Also it depends on what you want to achieve. Liberating wars greatly limit any armies capability and forces the army to focus on land forces. That is why one might think air force aint the way to go.

By 2000 bombardment youre reffering strictly to Serbia and not SFR Jugoslavia.. it would take much more than that to take on Jugoslavia, trust me..

To destroy a big state, like France, to say, you require not less than dozens of nukes, even with the actual gamma-top technology; and that, only targeting the main cities, hoping the fallout will cover enough space between them.
To destroy something like U.S, or Russia, you actually require HUNDREDS of nuclear warheads, and i'm not joking; and that, assuming no one is inercepted;

The technology is over half a century old. The war is not starting today and to end up tomorrow. They are working at the technology as we speak. All it is needed is a handful of mathematicians and a few good engineers. I don't know how can the people be so naive into thinking that what other achieved in 1960s they cannot today.

Iraq was in the same position as NK is now. Everyone thought Iraq is an awesome army that got beaten in few days.
People are inclined to think that there's always more to some countries army but there isn't. You need money to have a good army. NK doesn't nor did Iraq have. USA is the most experienced country in warfare to date. It doesn't mean they can't be beaten but NK is not an opponent that's going to achieve such victory.

The things you fail to understand about NK:

1.Youre on one hand overly exaggerating NK rocket/nuclear capabilities while at other heavily underestimating US.You come with arguments that US patriot system has a high fail rate of interception... ok lets assume this is true.But you seem to forget how high fail rate NK has with their own rocket testings.Its like your memory is so short.. Just recently they in NK invited world media press for the celebration of Kim Jong Ils honour, even from our tiny county media was present.Can you remind me how did that rocket launch turn out!?!?!?I wont even bother how many more failures there were before, go figure.Lets assume that patriot has only 50% rate of success, how much would you give to NK rockets!?They dont present any real threat to US, such assumption is a joke, and as someone already told you.. its very VERY difficult to successfully launch a rocket.They simply cant hit US, but they can hit "something".. more on that later.
