I can't imagine a lot of scenarios where I'd really want to use it (being the victim of a small-arms gang stomping, perhaps?) but I've yet to discover how one actually uses the bugout item.
Hello Gary, I am very sorry for naming you "PoopBrain" in Pokémon Red. I hope we are through with this. I wish that you accept my apology and that we are able to accept my immature behavior and we become friends again.
Um, I think some of you have me confused with somebody else. I don't recall being called any nasty names any time in the recent past and the only games I play online are Quake-based shooters and Yahoo Euchre, and I don't play shooters against people a whole lot as my move and shoot simultaneously skills suck. Bots are one thing but teenagers with finely honed reflexes and no lives are quite another (I'm 63 and never DID really have the dedication needed to get seriously good, so I'd mostly play DM for fear of hurting my team (as I write, I'm listening to my 20-year-old grandson scream at lamers (mostly kids who shouldn't be playing Call of Duty) on his Xbox))
It was a serious question. There's no documented command in the help screens (probably is one in real Q3) and no how-invoke mention in the doc that describes what it does. I usually grab it if it's not far out of my way
I couldn't SEE what I was picking as an avatar, other than the name.

[can we have like a better way to paste shit in our comments] (at least make an example of how to post img and vids into post, like we have examples for url, flag etc.)
Thanks, all... but the setup screen is pretty stunted in the Q3 demo and binding a key via the console gets me "invalid command use" if I hit the key I bound.
At least this stuff should work in QL - thanks, all, and I'll try again if I spring for the actual Q3 CD.

Weird initial greetings aren't unusual for gamer forums. The Q3 demo has an amusing quirk - "use item" is set up on click-mwheel by default, but gives you "inv cmd use" when you hit it. Cute.
Occasionally for practice. It doesn't look to support shared servers so it's pretty much a toy. One fairly annoying aspect is it isn't equitable in terms of command access - bots get to use items, I don't. Is anybody using Q3, the purchased version, or Q4 these days? There do seem to be a few humans playing Alien Arena on shared servers still. I'm debating buying Q3 (Q4 doesn't seem to work properly on my system) for practicing on, QL practice's green, stupid bots (5 bots all insistently going after the spot with the most resources and never giving up? Good grief!) and the ludicrous slowness and silliness of bots in CTF combined with the frequent lack of visual cues re teammate/enemy) make practice matches over there pretty weird even though items work.
Hanging in there with QL despite its annoyances...
