hi ql community. Im really fan of ql. I play ca and stuff but in nowadays i started to play competitive scout in division 3 tf2 league.

My mind will blow up because i cant choose a sensitivity. I am a decent aimer. I can get use to play with any sensitivity.

I never used accel also i hate it. I got xai and wmo but i use wmo because it hasnt got accel.

I mostly played with stermy setup 24 cm 30cm 36 cm tried so high or so low sens too. I got armchair and qck+ mousepad.

Seriously I dont feel insane with any so i cant stick with any.... Its like a fobia.

I know there are some people like me. please help me about that.

Which cm/360 could be cool to stick and get use to play with for a competitive scout? I mean scout uses shotgun and i mostly need to meatshot people so tracking wont be important for me. All I need to do is meatshotting. Also I dont want to feel slow too. Also scouts movement speed is pretty fast so maybe you guys can give me some dodging or combining movement with aim tips.
Can you pro quakers give me cool advices about these stuff? I would be so happy if you guys dont troll or spam "its all about preference" thing.

Its a dire situation. Waiting for your help..

I play both TF2 (scout) and Quake. Before I used the shittiest mouse ever (Ikari Laser) and with it I had 25cm/360. ( I calculate my settings with http://www.notalent.org/sensitivity/sensitivity.htm )

After I got a new mouse, I changed my sensitivity to 17cm/360, and it was perfect. However, I wanted to use the same sensitivity in TF2 as in Quake (my quake sensitivity was a bit higher), so I increased the sensitivity a bit. Now I use 13cm/360. I think this sens works great, but there was nothing wrong with 17cm/360 (for TF2).

The reason why I increased the sens was because I thought 25cm/360 was too bad. It was inefficient and not fitting my claw grip style. Moving your mouse over a huge area is worse than moving the mouse over a medium area imo.

Note: I don't use accel!

For TF2 it is 17, but in Quake 13. I don't want to have 2 different sensitivities in 2 different games and as I play quake more seriously, I use 13 in TF2 too.

I play in div 6 because of (very) unfair seeding (teams worse than us in the last season were promoted, but not our team). However division don't count my individual skill. Which is why I prefer quake.... I guess I'm a bit too ego for teamplay :)

Just pick a sensitivity, and stick with it for ages. Even when you do really badly, just push through it. Use your willpower and don't change.

If you cant decide, test EVERY sense, and stick with the most comfortable one. You cant ask people to decide for you, ITS A PERSONAL PREFERENCE THING, some people like slow sense for everything they do, some like fast...

A lot of people aren't confident about what sensitivity they want, and end up copying their favourite pro. Copying a sensitivity won't make you better, but it might give you the confidence to not change it which is crucial. That being said, sensitivity 4 (default) at 400 dpi is the most common for a reason. :)

OnT: The pistol is lotto, even quad said that he only hits so well with it on lucky days/occasions. I really dislike the pistol spread in TF2, it should be more like MG imo!

There is spread to it, but that doesn't change the fact that it is controllable to a degree, and that there is a curve to learning how to properly use it. To be a good scout, it is necessary to learn.

Probability theory says its best to aim you pistol just as if it was an lg (i.e. always keep your xhair on your target). If you assume you track your target to 100%, its lotto from there. I play scout and I play it well enough to understand the gameplay.

The only point I made is that I think the spread is too high, making it a die roll at mid-long ranges, which is not the way to go if you want a competitive skill based game. TF2 is not designed for skill and competition though, that is why its so much about luck (compared to Quake ofc).

It's supposed to be a die roll at long range, otherwise there would be no reason to play any other class. It isn't so bad at mid range, but learning to exploit the margin is extremely important.

By mid-long range I mean from a range about cw to cw on granary. It should be slight less random. I have not argued about long range, but my opinion on that is that the spread should be like mg, but falloff could be increased so bullets deal 2-3 damage instead of 8.

If an enemy is really really weak and exposed but far away, I think you should be able to rely on that 4-6 pistol shots will kill him. As it is now, you can't know whether 2 shots or 20 shots is sufficient.

Well i play competitive TF2 as well and i play scout the reason you probably have some problems is because the model moves faster
so you need to adjust. Just try to do a simple rule of 3 based on you sens and the movespeed of the scout wich is 400 units i think :)

just take note of the sens you use at 360 units wich is what i think the movespeed the quake model goes and you do 360x400/x where x is your sens at quake

:D if that doesent work just adjust to wtf you feel confortable :) its not rocket science, just make sure you can do all the fancy tricks and still hit a nice percentage of shots.

I use way higher sens in TF2 than in QL. Hits tend to register way easier and you get a bigger competitive advantage from speed. Using same sensitivity for everything only makes sense if one is OCD.

that's exactly why I use different sensitivities in different games, so I don't try to turn midair in QL or miss all my rox in cpm

I'm very good scout and quakelive player. So, listen to me.

No matter which sensitivity you have on tf2
with 2sens 400dpi
or 4sens 400dpi
you can aim the same..

Just think about TRACKING/movement aim
think about rail gun when using scattergun..

Put a confortable sensitivity range. Please dont use low sensitivity in fast paced games..
Mostly a sensitivity to do 180� on a fast swipe.

Voila. Practice Practice Practice, profit.

For profit in tf2 you must have better equips tough.
120hz+ 240fps improve skill a lot.
