Does it happen on all servers? You could try downloading via torrent and keeping an eye on the speed graph to make sure there are no irregularities.

If they can read your messages while you're 999 then surely QL packets can't reach you while your packets can reach QL.

I assume you don't receive any text messages from the others during that time?

Do you have a firewall or anything that could block QL for a moment?

donīt know if this relates to this, but i started to have lags lately as well. not as long as 30 seconds, but i cannot play 2-3 games without it appearing. i can still see the action on the server, but i get timeout. isp seems fine..though it is cable and i hear it can be the reason

I get this too, at least once per evening. Since so many people are affected by it, there's either something wrong with QL or there something about our setup that we all have in common. We should compare systems...

I'm running QL on regular, updated firefox (no QLprism) on a Windows 7 64 bit PC with an core2 duo e6600, 2gb ram and a gt9600. Using a cable connection from behind a router. While 999ing I can quit the game and refresh QL.com or any other site without problems. I can even type \reconnect and it will work after a few seconds (less time than waiting out the 999). Firefox extensions in use: Adblock Plus 2.0.3, Firebug 1.9.1, Live HTTP Headers 0.17, Modify Headers 0.7.1.1. I've never messed around with any networking related cvars in QL, they're all at the default setting. I always close all other programs that connect to the internet before I start playing (utorrent, music or vid streams etc).

Can't think of anything else that could play a part in this at the moment...

I have p4 3ghz, 2gb ram, 7600GT with cable directly from PC to fiber connection. Using XP sp3. No firewall or antivirus. Im using Firefox 3.6.27 with the new Flash (11.1.102.62) New Java installed. Windows update updated.
I close everything aswell while playing except for mIRC and msn.

The only thing we seem to have in common is 2gb ram, not using antivirus, and our respective Windows' are fully updated.

Since they started with 5-6-7 and not 5.2 etc i started not to update. I did try out the 10th version but i found it more laggy in game and slower in windows. I might just imagine. But i could also not deactivate Java library in add-ons and there was a problem with the .NET framework aswell.
Maybe it didnt cause any performance issues orso but it still botherd me.

Must be id. Cant see any other option when the same thing happens to players on server at the same time. And players not even from same countrys. I have informed syncerror and sponge about this but seem they ignoring it or dont know what causes it.

as far as i know it has nothing to do with your comp or modem hardware etc, most likely its isp side and/or routing to the server.

I had several different cases myself, when I got the chance to check what was going on it was either:
1- upload died for X amount of time to all outgoing connections, data came in normal to already connected places. (ISP)
2- I could connect normally to websites and irc while i was 999 ingame (routing to server)

Ofcourse, could be another cause in your case but I doubt it.

Had the same for a while. A reset + firmware update on my router fixed it.
Edit: if you haven't done yet, let your ISP check your line.

The problem description goes something like this for me:
The tdmpickup game starts, or duel or whatever ql game.
After lets say 5 minutes of play where everything is 100% ok,
I suddenly get msg on screen: Connection Interrupted,
I can't see chat but it seems i can type /timeout /pause which work, but the screen is frozen, even though i'm completly fine with
Internet connection, we talk normal with team mates on teamspeak3 when this bug occurs,
i can browse other inet sites.
After around 1-2 minutes or so the connection interrupted msg disappears and the game unfreezes.
Other solution for me is to type /reconnect and then after like 15-25 seconds or so I get finally back in to the game.
This problem - bug happened to me easily 3 times in 3 hours, although the frequency is often more or even less. Can't really say, as I have not made exact statistics about the occurred bug rate.

Conclusion: I think that I got this problem after last update and it is not because of my connection, hardware, or antivirus software. In my opinion it is the fault of the last ql update since I have never experienced this problem - bug before the updates. Problem is iD software got something bad into ql and it seems to be not affecting all people.

It might be possible that this bug is only connected to some software, hardware, operation system, web browser, ql addons for firefox, e.g. qlranks rating into ql site or something similar.

I am no expert, but I guess these things should sorted by iD software, so I send this also to them. amen

Thank you for letting us know about this error. To resolve this issue, please follow these steps:

Uninstall the game through your control panel.
Go to %appdata%\id Software and delete the whole id Software folder.
Empty your recycle bin and restart your computer.
Go to http://www.quakelive.com in a current 32 bit version of Internet Explorer or Firefox.
Install the plugin again while your browser is closed.

These steps should resolve this problem and allow you to play again. If you are still experiencing this error, please check the Technical Support forums for further assistance or let us know.

At the moment, im reinstalling ql, I will give u info when installation finished to see whether the reinstall got me rid of the connection interrupted bug.

in the tdm pickup game before the reinstall i got the bug,

after reinstall i didnt get in a 10 min duel game


will say later tonight if it works in tdm's

Let me know = ) I have tryed to reinstall firefox, java, flash etc but still same. let me know if reinstall the game works :)
And btw, few told me that this occurs only on .DE servers.. And when this happens to ppl around the world at the exact time.. Freeze and Unfreeze.. How can it be the users fault. Obvious the server.

well i didnt get a chance to try it later at night in tdm yestrday, so today I will try it in tdm, I will let you know around 17:30 CET here

I played today two tdmpickups and I didnt get the bug, seems to work. Time will tell if is solved permanently

from the date when I reinstalled quakelive, i did not get the bug, but I did not play so often since the reinstall.

So for me it works, connection interrupted bug is gone, and the solution for me was to reinstall the game, a solution which the ql support adviced me.

Am I the only who did this?

just uninstall ql plugin, delete whole ql folder, make a copy of cfg and ui, and install ql again. Worked for me, and wasn't that hard.

This is the case for only one server location: Frankfurt. Let me make this more clear:

THIS IS NOT PROBLEM WITH QL OR ANY UPDATE.

THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH FRANKFURT LOCATION.

It happens since mid-January and can't be fixed by reinstalling/rebooting/configuring anything, because it's not on your side.

You can get wrong impression that something fixed it if you try in the morning, because apparently, those blackouts happen more often in the evenings (due to network load maybe?)

Happens to players in Netherlands (ISP: ziggo.nl), Poland (ISP: netia.pl), Norway, Bulgaria, Portugal and surely others!

SOLUTION: avoid Frankfurt at all cost.
