Ups I can't install Qlprism cos of the similar reason

install it to any folder where you have write permission, that's how i used to do it on university computers. I remember installing q3 demo that way.

I cant get that far, it stops just when I lunch the installation.

You can always try to leave the current domain, since it are probably those policies that are holding you back.

Answer is no, if domain policy doesn't permit your user to install software like that you simply can't do it. IT will need to do it for you. Got a mate in the IT dept ? :D

That's a great idea actually. However I dont think it's a viable solution to reboot every time he needs to work... at work. :D

Thats only local users. The user is prolly a domain user.

Talk with your boss about the lack of work during summer time. It might get you to leave earlier, or get more work to do, either ways you would not waste time.

Maybe syncore can do something to allow the pk3 files to be stored in the same folder as QLPrism so there is no problems with file access, then all you would need to do is copy the whole QLPrism folder to a USB pen drive, run the .exe and away you go.

Oh I don't know if more people would appreciate this? But I think for "playing at work" it would be awesome :-D Also the guy who makes this, would possess extreme power cos of the decrease of productivity of businesses

Are you sure it won't work in a portable firefox install? That seems like the simplest solution.

After clicking on QuakeLive.exe, pb needs to be downloaded and installed. Proceed...

PB was the biggest problem for a portable QL iirc. People posting on portableapps.com were always stuck at this. But since PB is gone I thought it might be possible now.

At least linux version doesn't require PB and it's 100% local install, only stuff installed in firefox's profile and ~/.quakelive

There's files that need to be copied (dll + more) that if you don't have admin rights, I can't see how it can be done. I went through the same thing myself, I could easily get a portable firefox to work, but when it comes to the QL plugin, it just needs admin rights. A portable Linux would work well too. Throw it on a usb drive and boot from it :D (You can also do that with Win7, but you'd have performance issues)

yep, if it's really a windows domain with a skilled administrator, you gonna need a AAA hacker to get the job down, especially now, since he already tried it and it's in the logs:)

I see the idea of "QL being played from anywhere, just need an internet browser" isn't really acomplished (will it ever be?) Shame at freetime outside work, I (and I believe many more people) don't have time for computer games.

Here another approach, not mentioned so far:

Run a Ubuntu (or Win-XP) image using a virtual maschine, than you are admin on the virtual system, so you can install whatever you want on it.
E.g. VM-Ware player can do so ... but I have to admit, I dont know if you maybe need to be admin to install the vm-ware player.

make a cd/usb boot up and remove the administrator password or make yours administrator =O

or remove admin password, and make a "super secret" administrator account on ur machine and don't touch yours and just hop on and off of it.
