Not overly fussed on it TBH, ST will always be king, but I I don't want to be stuck in the past, so I'm sure I can enjoy it enough to play it a few hours a week.

Just disappointed that Sagat and Ryu are so strong as it will make so many games so boring, due to their ease of play and popularity. They also broke guile!

Don't have a character yet, don't know enough about the game, but the trails mode seems really good for learning combos n' shit. Probably won't be playing much (when I am on chances are it's 'cause I'm already playing with someone I know or sommet) but ask me anyway if any of you queers want.

Maybe we should make a channel? #esr.sf4 (or just .sf, I like a bit of 3s every now and then) on qnet or sommet, probably work better for getting games since you have to actually have the game open to see anyone playing.

edit: also has the bonus of excluding Jamerio because he doesn't even know what IRC is let alone how to use it.

don't spend too much time on learning the combos in trial mode though. it's good practice to get the timing right but most of the time you won't really have chances to hit them in real matches unlike in Third Strike. you don't get too much damage out of huge combos either thanks to the damage scaling system.

i guess you're only playing for fun but if you suddenly feel like taking it more seriously, i'd tell you (from my limited experience) to work on hitting the staple combos consistently (ex: Ryu's Shoryuken -> Focus Attack Dash Cancel -> Ultra) and getting better at spacing.

Oh yeah I know, some of the combos are retarded... I definitely won't be attempting most of them in a game (honestly can't remember most of them) but still interesting to learn how certain moves link together.

I like gief but it's so fucking hard doing 360s on a kb, I need to link it 'cause it's almost impossible to do it standing. If I ever do the 720 it's pure luck (except for when I gave eke a raping with it yesterday B>) Any tips at all? (except "buy a stick" because I get bored of these games so quickly that it's not worth the investment to get a decent stick)

no. forget about doing 360s on a keyboard. if you wanna play 360 characters, i'm sorry to say you need at least a good pad. it's close to impossible to pull off on a keyboard (at least in Super Turbo... i hear SF4 input is supposedly easier. i haven't played the game on PC yet)

i play ST on a keyboard but i only play Ryu and the occasional Ken/O.Ken. my input is not as quick as what i can do on my Saturn pad but i'm more consistent in spamming hadoukens and hitting reversals.

Why even question if getting an ultra in is worth it? Try jumping and ultra on an experienced player.

Well if it's the only way then I understand but if not then I'd say practising the way that doesn't use 2 ex meters would be better, I guess it is the only way though :).

In the case of Ryu FADC it's not the only way to land the ultra (but it's really useful because you can basically combo into it from anything, although the damage scales heavily). You can also land an ultra after a late LP DP, a traded DP and, iirc, even after things like EX Tatsu on the corner.

Wasting those two meters is worth it in many, many cases.

Oh man, ex tatsu to ultra in the corner is so sweet. And INCREDIBLY easy to pull off. Once that tatsu hit you're like "hell yeah". =P

oh yes definitely worth it. Ryu's ultra hits for some very good damage if the meter is built up. the thing is... if you execute the FADC into ultra properly... you're guaranteed of landing every single hit in that ultra.

one reason why Ken seems weaker than Ryu in this game is because it's much harder to squeeze out all the hits from his supers and ultras.

Any way to stop this game quitting ranked/championship matches after 1 game? Or is that by design? Takes me fucking forever to find someone who isn't a chinky with a long piece of string for an internet connection and then it puts me back on the menu after one game.

Play player matches if you want to avoid that, there's no other solution.

Yeah I figured, it's just I like being able to click all 3 because player matches gives me the same fucking 3 people that nobody wants to play with over and over.

Btw, I haven't tried the PC version yet, but in the console version the easiest way to find matches is to set arcade mode to find Championship matches and then just join arcade mode and it'll keep finding people for you.

it's no GGPO but it's much better than i expected it to be... after reading the horror stories about console version netcode.

the gameplay is okay. but those performance bugs are rageing the shit out of me... games for windows and steam? HATE... was this game with all these additional things even tested more than 2minutes.. i dont think so. playing = owning, okay.. but there is no point at all and i just cant enjoy this stupid menu jungle with no comfort and extras at all.

Performance bugs? Do you mean slowdown? I had that but I set the FPS to fixed and it stopped happening.

ye, but this happens in the menu while gfwl is connecting. at this point the menu slows down or is speeded up by 4times as normal. i have to go back to the first menu then and relog to gfwl. but this worked just at the beginning.. now the game crashes when i do that.

Trainer if anyone wants to unlock all the shit without having to grind arcade mode, I tried it on a save I had progress on already and it corrupted it, then I just made a brand new one and did it again, that one has been fine so far (works online and shit, only have to use the trainer once too, use it > change sound settings to force save > done)
