it's a common problem with the wmo and 3.0. the wheel is too loose and may on occasion move one notch up or down.

That happens to me too, once or twice a game. It really doesn't bother me though.

Version 2 of the 3.0 has a much firmer wheel. No problems yet.

How do I know if mine is version 1 or 2?

if you bought a boxed (read: non-ebay) IE 3.0 then it's a good chance it's the re-release.

I have seen someone on these forums or maybe another forum post a fix that he did to his IME 3.0 for this scroll wheel problem. He had to open up his IME and adjust/tape something on the scroll wheel.

ever since i bought this mouse i have been searching for this fix all over but haven't had any luck.

I was able to fix the lose/shitty side buttons with some cutout pieces from a paper towel roll, some tape and crazy glue gel though.

I never thought of what you are referring to as a problem with the mouse. It's more the fact that you aren't used to the scroll wheel. It actually happens when you "over scroll" and the wheel is on the verge of registering another scroll. Then by moving your mouse and such the wheel takes the rest of the scroll.

The best way to "fix" this problem is just to get used to it. Scroll around a bit by 1 clicks, and don't throw the mwheel when you switch weapons, it's that simple.

i have 2 wmo's and the newer has this problem much more often i dont think its a coincidence

I have 2 ie3.0s and 2wmos. They all feel exactly the same. That's what I like about microsoft!

If it's registering entire weapon switch without you touching the wheel at all, then you've got a defective mouse. Neither of my 3.0's do that.

This is my second one, I returned the first one for that reason.

I do flick the mouse wheel up or down, I don't just hit it once.

So, like Vamp1re said, I just have to change my ways!

nah there is a way to make the mousewheel more firm so it doesnt loosely roll over to the next click.

yeah. Well the main thing is u have to make the notch which counts the click sharper.

Its like a half round to begin with, and u have to file gently the two sides of it, so it becomes more pointy (^)

The bad thing abot this is that with time the plastic will wear down and the wheel will have clicks that arent as noticeable.

Still that can easily be fixed. I posted this on gotfrag aswell, i believe...

EDIT: I scrapped the tape idea since it went back to normal after like a week. Now I applied 2 pieces of cardboard from an empty toilet paper roll.

I cut them to size then glue them both together to make them thicker combined. I then slid the new piece of combined cardboard between the red transparent hub (that holds the mousewheel peg) and the black little bracket that also holds the mousewheel peg.

Its now really tight when scrolling but it will get looser to perfection in due time. Now it doesn't jump up or down, it stays where it is in the scroll position.

well my ie 3.0 started like that and then the whell died...
and my other 1.1a had the same faith ... im with a 1.1a now cause theyre like 9 euros :p
