Hi all,

I'm just wondering are there any programs or any ways to convert Quake demos into something playable in Windows Media Player or Quicktime (or any other readable format really)

I know there is a .tga process but it takes up a lot of file space. Alternatively are there screen capture software that ye would recommend - have used FRAPS but have experienced system drain (and it plays back in a very small window)

either or, don't think you can expect good quality in high resolution 'on the fly' (with screen capturing a la fraps) without serious system slowdowns. the steps in between with avidemo will eat up huge amounts of hdd tho, so you'll have to make a decision. it's for a reason ppl said you need ~200gig disk space to make a Q3 vid, and that was already some years ago :) good luck

actually I'm pretty satisfied with fraps
saved a demo, fps 30, 15 minutes in about 6 gigs, then used video to flv convert which gave me final file about 200 MB
quality's good

you have also the option in the Movies tab to choose Half-size or Full-size (put it on full size, of course), and that's it - no more "small window"

Now that cnq3 writes MJPG with shitty sound and q3mme writes MJPG with perfect sound and the option of blur, using individual image files is stupid.

Either of these is fairly straightforward assuming you're not afraid of the Q3 console.

Not disagreeing with you 'cause I honestly don't know but what's so shitty about the ioq3/cnq3 sound? Is it the fact that cl_aviframerate has to be a multiple of 25 or whatever it is? I haven't noticed any issues with it myself but I haven't done more than a few clips.
