No, I only read the book (5 people) because a good friend overseas sent it. It was quite nice read with nice comforting story, but not a classic by any means.

Worth reading, I guess, but way overrated.

Ring by Steven Baxter ('Hard' Sci-fi, epic in scale, this book is special because of its scope and ideas as opposed to exceptional character interaction)

Foundation by Isaac Asimov (dated but worth it)

Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein (Film was shit and missed the point)

Time Ships by Steven Baxter (Official sequel to H.G. Wells 'Time machine')

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein (another classic)

Time Enough for Love by Robert Heinlein (fascinating character as the focus of this story)

The Ship who Sang by Anne McCaffrey (don't tell anyone but I cried, the focus is more on the characters in this book but I havent read it in a long long time)

That book has aged quite badly and many elements of it have been done a lot better elsewhere.

Having re-read the authors Journal entry I'm not so sure any of these books are really what he's looking for, still good books if he fancies a change of Genre.

There's always American Pyscho By Brett Easton Ellis, a classic and if you're not put off by all the explicit tourture scenes then you should get a lot out of it.
