I've never used amazon so i wouldn't know. However, play.com will aim to get it to you on the day of the release but isn't guaranteed. Seeing as i haven't bought a game in the past 3 years im not too bothered about paying a little extra for it, so i will go out for it on the day of the release. You'll just have to take your chances with odering it online, but put it one way, i don't wanna be sitting around in irc/msn when my friends are playing quake4 come friday.

If you pay for the delivery you get it on the day of release as it's posted out the day before.
