Maybe try reducing the distortion for each track, you never need as much as you think you do

with my awful playing, every bit helps.

a good advice for processing sounds: always use half of what you initially thought was good :p

sure, i'd love to see what you come up with. i had somebody tell me the same before, and the mix he came up with was pretty bad.

my outlook is: if it sounds good, keep it. so i think what i recorded sounds good, regardless of production trends, but i know i'm an awful producer.

would you like for me to post everything without effects? all of the effects are added through guitar rig, so i can give you clean samples.

that's a good advice up there. especially with high gain guitars it's good to go with less than 50% gain and get the chunk with mid section correction in the initial equalizer and a double take.

i'll try recording the guitars again with this in mind.

ye. also be careful with bass. it shouldn't be the main thrust of your guitars. that's what bass guitar is for. single guitar track will even sound flat and dull to you, but if u add a double take and bass guitar THEN it comes to life.

i can't test this atm, but it sounds to me that if i hard pan two rhythm guitar tracks left & right, i will gain a lot of space around the center for melodies. well, regardless of whether or not that's the case, you've got me thinking about it. so thanks.

i sequence drums in ableton live. i use the session drums pack. didn't use any effects or anything for this song.

thanks. not sure about the solo being off. i know i added a couple extra notes at the end so that it wouldn't end right on the beat. if that's what you mean, then yeah, it was intentional.

yea well it was just the first thing i noticed when i listened to it the first time like "man.. something is off there." Now way off is definately exaggerated. just slightly off

yeah, distortion is way too much, very tincan tinny thin and sharp, kind of ruins it.

man, i will be honest, i kinda play music and "live" music since i was a little kid, i have played guitar, electric guitar and i was a DJ too. i went through a phase of listening to a lot of stuff like vital tech tones, but it's not really interesting to me anymore. the same can be said for a lot of jazz. it's all very sterile and safe, even though it's technically and musically admirable.

i'm surprised by how many guitarists don't know of django reinhardt. he has such a cool style. it's easy to get bored/annoyed by the similarity of all his music, but little bits at a time are really enjoyable.

i think i maybe listened to return to forever, but a lot of stuff i listen to for a week or a month, and then forget about. :D

i will try to remember all the stuff that i already have had before, i had the same feeling about fusion by what you have mentioned, i had the same. i will try to find for you at first brazilian music, is very rich, so rich that some stuff i need to recall on my brain, very deep to came up with and show you that!

i got really impressed when i saw him playing at first time, for real. i don't know if music is transcending from common instruments into electronic around the world, but definitely this guy has showed that we need to reshape our understanding of e-music into standard schools.

I'm fully open to the possibility of meshing electronic and classic music well, I've heard some things I liked, just not much.

My point was that too much of electronic music is garbage. Not just the normal "mainstream of genre X is shit, listen to the good artists before forming your opinion" amount. It feels like so much of it is drowning in a cesspool of newfound sounds they enjoy repeating over and over, like how many artists abuse that shit and do nothing else? They enjoy that too much to produce anything genre value for the next ten years it feels.

It makes sense that electronics should expand and supplement genres, the problem is that I'm seeing none of that and all of wub wub wub.

ok now i could see your point of view, and just like to add a point that you mentioned a bit: "they repeat the same thing and record it(i just shortcut it)", well i agree but there is another point of view, like classic electronic music has its base, its roots. so if you follow a path of a style in electronic music you might repeat the kick and the drums probably, the "base" of it. so i kinda agree but there is a point that e-music in general is for dancing too so it is harsh to think about it in another way.

Nice stuff! The end was great. Just wish the vocals were deeper, and the guitar from 2:15-3 was a bit louder and deeper too. Could be a nice doom/stoner track :)

thanks. i made a lot of progress on the guitar sounds in this song compared to older songs, but you're right, there's a lot that can be done here. listening to this in the car and with speakers has given me some ideas. the bass overpowers the electric guitar, for sure.

i remixed the guitar/bass/vocals and fixed some things that sounded off in it. think it sounds a lot better with the new mix.
