There is nothing that indicates the new sensor is worse than the old sensor in any way. The question itself is merely rhetorical. We're not talking about going from infared to laser, we're talking about a small leap in technology without any pitfalls.

Processing a mouse command with the X8 takes 12 - 14 milliseconds - too fast for humans to perceive.

I (and everyone else here) even clearly detect the 6ms difference when I change my mouse default 125hz (8ms) pollingrate to 500hz (2ms). Same goes for 60-->120hz CRT refreshrate.

but I'll certainly buy a corded one.... if only they make it ambidextrous (this one has a slightly curved top for the right hand). Please bring back the IMO1.1a shape MS... pleeeaassseee

I liked the IE 4.0 shell, but it had major hardware flaws. Unstable transmission unit made max speed before overflowing 0.8m/s and jittery cursor movement. Would love a great sensor+500hz USB 2.0 in that shell.

Never understood what's so important with not having any prediction at all. It wasn't much of an issue until Steelseries started their marketing campaign for the Ikari. It makes very little if any difference when playing games.

It does help in minor movements, but not too much difference, i just stick to what im used too, if its a really crucial function, razer would have marketed it 10years ago =)

Once again, theres always at least something extremely wrong with any microsoft mouse.

Great sensor, subjective shape but... WIRELESS ? what in the world in Micro$hit thinking ?? Wireless users are probably laptop users who don't give a shit about mouse tracking accuracy cause clicking on powerpoint slides is one hell of a challenge indeed.

Now slap some bluetrack sensor on a G3 mouse and watch them sell like hot cakes.

Where did he talk shit about WMO/ IE 3.0? Those mice are 7 years old and the last quality products Microsoft released when it comes to mice for gaming. Since then they have been messing up somewhere in pretty much all their mice, which is what he said.

Quite the contrary, since my current setup consists of a 1.1a. I love everything about the intellimouse except the shape.

Back to topic, bluetrack is probably the first to be considered a step forward in sensor technologies in many many years.

Razer infrared > intellieye ? LoL NO!
Logitech laser > intellieye ? Naw..
Bluetrak > intellieye ? Probably, if the advertised specs are accurate. Correction free and 70 IPS = win.

Perhaps the reason that MS chose to roll out bluetrack on wireless mouse could be because it uses more power than what USB ports are supplying, hence the need for batteries. It makes no sense at all to have a wireless "gaming" mouse.

Or maybe they want to test the waters by putting a probably expensive sensor in a gaming mouse for people who won't complain much if it has some problems.

Also, gaming is not only people playing FPS competitively, most people are almost casual gamers who want a comfortable wireless mouse to play the latest single player game or to screw around with Counter-Strike: Source in some public server with lots of mp3s and funky mods.

I expect whatever sensor uses the Ikari Laser successor to finally surpass IntelliEye. It has problems with really fast movements, but everything else is perfect. I hope they are able to fix that.

blutrack should work on more different surfaces, thats why they market it for laptop users
