Finally!

I got an awesome deal on eBay. I paid 2$ for the monitor, but unfortunately, I paid $90+ for shipping.

Samsung Syncmaster 997DF

It got here, and I was happy it was working at all! 2$ Monitors sound...iffy.

Anyway, I ran Quake 3, and was so happy. No more blur, no more delay, nothing!

And that's when I was running it at 85 hz. I changed the refresh rate of Quake 3 to 120HZ, on 800x600, and, oh my god.

It has to be the smoothest thing I've EVER experienced on a computer, ever. It's so smooth, no tearing, nothing. It's such a joy to play a game, so incredibly smooth.

Anyway, here's a picture of my setup now.

Yeah I have one of those CRTs and they're good. I run most games 1024x768 @ 100hz.

Is that a G9 you got there?

Yeah same thing with my Diamondback. Its a perfect mouse and I'll probably buy another one when this one dies :D

Yeah, I still love my CRT, thought it's recently been placed on the secondary computer. I've put my LCD on my main rig to try and get used to it, and while it's still not as smooth, it's acceptable, even for quakeworld. With the CRT I get an incredible 160hz @ 800x600, but it's not noticably better than the 120hz that my other crt gets, so you'll love it.

I don't think they will stop now... they always had CRTs for quake in the last 5 eswc editions. (and only for quake in the last 2 editions)

are you sure? i asked on one of these threads if eswc would use CRTs and i got a negative answer. if it's true, i can convince the indian qualifier organizers to have CRTs only for quake.

Actually, I tested it myself on the shipping website, put in the sizes and weight of the monitor, and it came to about $80-$90
