Remember a corporation is like a shark, which must keep swimming in order to stay alive. They can't just settle for what they've got, growth is the rule.

In order to keep profits growing companies have to convince people to buy their product in higher quantities. If they can't do that because there's a hard limit on the units the market will consume (tvs, food and presumably mice for hardcore gamers are all subject to this), they have to continually upgrade to more expensive components and models, even if they're useless. This is why you see 3d tvs (LOL) or 50% more expensive bottled water with useless vitamins in it.

If I was owner of a company i rather make good products that work that are reliable and known as a good company that make good products instead of putting 5600dpi sensors in the mice that are just unnecessary,over-priced and don't work.

I kind of feel like that too, but imagine doing that and getting outselled and outmarketed by flashy, unreliable crap.

But their isn't any "Gaming" companies that are going out for the simple just work products they are all doing it (Razer,Roccat,Logitech,Steelseries,Qpad) and i would image the top selling mice are the ones that get recommend all the time WMO/3.0/MX518 and DA just because they actually work have no problems and they a good shape.

I've seen quite a few clueless idiots writing articles on popular websites about how this new 80000 DPI mouse is the most precise thing ever\etc and I bet they sell a lot of that shit, too, else they wouldn't be making it. More and more mice catered towards hardcore gamer's demands are popping up tho so I can't say that these good mice aren't popular, just not enough yet, it seems.

If you kept producing mice like the ones you want to buy, you'd go out of business. The cost of components keeps falling so even if it resulted in taking market share from your competitors, your profits would stagnate and your employees would leave since there won't be any raises in their futures.

Not necessarily. They'd be catering to an untapped market segment. Places such as esreality and other mice hardware enthusiast sites are the target markets, and similar to what puretrak is doing, they cater to what we need rather than we they think we need. Plus they also venture into other types of mice like claw grip style - a different market segment. What has changed is rather the form factor, but internals are consistent, other products as well, mousepads etc. Venturing into the market with mice alone would have been volatile from the start, but they have other products.
From a business perspective, yeh shitty components are justified, but that's not necessarily the best way

I think it's pretty safe to assume it's a lmo copy, since logitech stopped producing it.

Koreans are using it beacause it has "best click ever" and its hard to breake buttons (even while playing diablo 2 xD). But my friend Tarson (polisc pro sc player) ordered this mouse from korea and after 1 moth switched to Xai. So i guess Ktec is overrated.

Now that my Steelseries XAI is slowly but steadily falling apart, I'm looking for a new mouse to buy. This seems like a reasonable alternative.

The led shit and the left click force thing is completely useless for me, but the lightweight and small size combined with the 200 inches/second speed sounds very nice.

Because it is small, lightweight and has max speed high enough for me. It is actually a little bit smaller than mx300 which is my favourite mouse shape. I've always been a fingertrip gripper and for me the XAI is bordering on too big.

It also has similar buttons to XAI.

mx300 - 2 fingers on top. Ring and pinky on right side. Thumb on left.

Spectre - 2 fingers on top, Ring finger is either amputed before purchase or kept in an akward position on top of mouse two, or squezzed below in a weird angle.

Thumb touching side buttons and randomly pressing them.

mx300 is also my favorite mouse shape.. after going through g3 and wmo (which i both used for a very brief moment), i used salmosa alot and have now settled with abyssus, you should take a look at that one.

It does look good but it doesn't have any thumb buttons, does it? That has become a huge aspect for me. For the past 3 or so years I've used G3, MX518 and XAI, so a thumb button is a must for me these days...

Except... if the scroll wheel is really good? I could replace thumb buttons as scroll up and scroll down, if they are very solid and don't happen randomly as they often do with logitech mice for example.

And the special edition version of Abyssus is only 27euros here in Finland, so it's also a reasonable choice atm.

i don't know what you are talking about with the scroll wheel on logitech mice, never had that problem, mind you my mx300 lasted 9 years, and the wheel was worn out of course.

i did have that random mwheel register problem with the wmo tho, was annoying playing quake, since i`'ve always had mg/gl bound to mwheel up/down. abyssus does not do that.

Yea, that's exactly what I mean, the problem you had with wmo. More specifically, when scrolling with the mouse, for example if I scroll one notch down it would sometimes register one scroll up as it is slightly wiggling in the notch it is at.

So the problem was the the registering of scrolling was not done in the right spot, which would be the "bump" you have to go over when turning the scroll, instead it was done in the sides of the "valley" where the wheel stays in between scrolls.

I'm going to try out Spectre briefly since I have the opportunity for it, but if it's not good I think I'll get an Abyssus.

I don't think it's a good mouse performance wise, because it looks like that it uses Phillips Twin Eye sensor. (in this table you can see Imperator, Mamba, Naga sensor model).

Xai uses Avago 9500 sensor which is considered superior than Phillips Twin Eye.


PS: I do not own neither mouses; I'm saying that based on informations available out there (ESR, Overclock.net, Youtube, etc).

The difference in the quality of the sensors is miniscule, and the only thing that really matters to me is the perfect control and malfunction speeds, which should according to the tables be easily enough.

So even tho it might not be AS good performance wise as the XAI, you can't honestly say that the sensors the Razer mice use are actually bad, can you?

well, it isn't only worse performacewise, it's like the sensor is faulty.

How is it faulty, any info on that?

Has 4 main issues with it

1 - When you pick it up and put it down the curser wanders off by some pixels to the right and down

2 - When you press buttons the curser will jitter. Especially noticable on cloth pads and without the O ring around the sensor. Using it in windows is like stabbbing yourself with scissors in the eye. Forget about photoshop!

3 - Random axis lock. Every once in a while the mouse will either stop tracking in horizontal or vertical direction. Which leads to more scissor in eyes stuff.

4 - Random sensor brain fart. Pick mouse up, Put mouse down. Violently move mouse for 2 seconds on mat to only see the cursor stay still. Then it comes alive.

Thats about it.

1 - Mine moves about a single pixel straight down. Never really noticed it before.

2 - Mine has never done this before, I don't know why. Black cloth pad and all.

3 and 4 - I will give you that one. This shit is rage-inducing. Has only happened twice in the 8 or 9 months I've owned it though.

CM Sentinel jittered like hell, Lachesis locked up, jittered. Imperator randomly switched of and locked up. Mamba locked up and switched off.

How often this happenes is completly random. But the pick up down bug cost me a match one time. After which i said no to philips twin eye

Not saying I particularly like it (it was practically free from my local shop), but I have almost none of the usual issues with it. Maybe I just happen to have the perfect setup for it. I have it on a cloth pad from the same company (which is crap), maybe that helps.

I try hitting my desk or turning speakers up to cause the vibrations everyone talks about, but nothing, idk. That said, I will replace it when I find something else that's perfect for a good price - it has momentarily locked up me once or twice for just a second. Been lucky that it hasn't happened to cost me any frags, but when it eventually happens I'll probably rage on it. :D

I don't understand all the phillips twin eye hate.

I have a mouse using it, and I have no issues with it. A little bit of negative accel issues at higher DPIs, but I use it at 400 and its about perfect.
