Nice work. mIRC needs a nice query tool + master browser with a clean GUI - this could be it :)

Personally I'd prefer the GUI was less cluttered and a little neater, but I guess that will come in time.

I based my own Q3 ping tool on it, and then my Q4 ping tool on that...
but 'skq4' kinda puts mine to shame :p

About SkQ4 being "t3h mIRC Q4 browser" I hope I will make it coze this is a project I work for a long time now (started in UT2k3)
On other hand, I plan to do a lot more than just "another multigaming query" tool
I know that Kquery or ASE are well spread and great.

I want to use mIRC at his max to develop the IRC community and Pickup features... (which are IRC based). That's why I don't plan to make SkQ4 stand alone btw...

Once skq4 get spread, you will notice how cool becomes the "IRC community" list !!! ;-)
FavUT2k4 had nearly all european CTF NW community :-) (ok not that big but....)

About the GUI cluttered, it has improved a lot from beginning and I hope it will still improve !
But it is hard to conciliate every user different wishes on that point so if you could describe more your wishes, it would help me :-)

Just out of curiosity, whats the use of fetching the users who use SKQ4?

I find all those version check commands and reporting to a specific command rather dodgy.

Other than that, VERY good job Skorps. I think Mr. Santa owes you loads of presents this xmas.

I list the users of SkQ4 in mIRC coze I plan with my "IRC community / pickups tabs" features to allow setting praccy/pickup/wars/duel through a friendly and automatic clientside system :-)
Querying their status is the first step ! (and can be disabled btw for those who want to fakenick/hide/shame on them)
That is the biggest part of my project and I focuse on it (thats why I dont want to code a stand alone)

I have just updated the beta with country & ping filters and a few bugs fixed !

Thx for the tool, i've (tried) to use it for a few days now. Here are some bugs i've found.
1. If i click a demo or server, the new window opens in the foreground as long as i have the mousebutton pressed. If i release it, it hides behind the main skq4 window. I had the tool maximized at the beginning so i thought it dissapeared. Took me quite a while to figure out they were just behind my window.

2. i can only filter out by ping by requesting a new serverlist. This seems a bit odd.

3. It would be handy if i could edit the favorites list somehow.

4. This one is the most extreme. If i request servers ( it hink it only happens then) after a while my connection seems to get 'stuck'. I cannot ping servers anymore, can't browse the internet, etc.
I have to reset my router to be able to use the internet again and last night i wasn't able to join irc anymore, even after the reset.
I haven't tested it that much, but it only seems to happen if i query for new servers twice for instance. It could also be because I switch to another tab while i wait for the master server.

Your router doesnt seem to be able to handle the massive packet flow Q4 server scanning requires... Either it thinks the packet flow is caused by a DDOS attack or your line is just dying.

I had to disable my router's firewall to get this work, tho it wasnt that bad for me, I could scan ~270 servers and then all the packets would just be ignored. But anyways, I suggest you should try to disable your router's firewall / DDOS protection and try fetching the servers again. If thats the reason then it would be easy just to permit anything from q4.idsoftware.com to get it fixed.

Thx for the explanation, but i don't think i can easily do that with my router. Also, the ingame browser doesn't cause the same thing, so there must be a sollution.

If you use dual monitors, the popup screens get 'lost' sometimes. I.e. when you click a server on the list, the popup window for the particular server (which incidentally doesn't steal focus) is not accessible - meaning you cant use it to join servers :(

hey the pop up thingie isnt working at all for me.. it just sometimes popp up when i hold my mouse1 button, and then just go to that pop up window with my mouse before it will go away again.. so any help pplz
