I've been listening to hip-hop (mainly underground) for about 8 years. I find that there is no explaining it to some people...they either get it or they don't. hiphop started when dj kool herc found out that people only liked certain parts of a record (the beat), so he used 2 records and mixed them together over and over to form a beat. after that, people started to emcee a little, which grew into poetry, which grew into hiphop. great poets and emcees have stayed underground, where the art is preserved.
