What does the release plan for the game look like when this high profile tournament is going on in parallel? Have they made any announcements with regards to whether and when they're gonna fix things?

Thinking of Cooller's ceiling airgib on Killsen(?) and that zoom bug a brazilian guy mentioned in other ESR comments. And Rapha getting stuck on ZTN. :}

The gib through ceiling you are talking about, was that on corrupted keep? There is a ceiling on that map you can rockjump through at any direction, surprise attacking your enemy kamikaze style and while doing so it's possible to land inside walls and basically hiding there. Top tier development.

Note that I recorded this in a Custom game deatmatch server, this maybe isn't possible in the duel version, but then one can think they should have fixed all the versions of the map.

There is no vod of that.
I kinda hoped that I would've gotten a few easy rounds to get used to playing again... I hadn't touched quake much in the past 2-3 months or so as I had a lot of irl obligations and I can't get any remotely decent sensitivity due to some strange bug (or something that only QC has for me), which hampers the enjoyment a lot.
Just figured that there was a small chance I could get top8 this tourney.... And then restart playing when the game is finally fixed.
But ye well going up against baksteen with just 25 minutes of playtime since it became an open beta, with a mouse that feels like it's accelerating faster than slash's crouch slide, was never gonna go well ;)

I stopped playing quake in 2006, over about a 10 year period i played about 40 hours of FPS a year, last year I got the itch again, played some doom 3 for 4 months in anticipation of quake champs and have played a lot of quake champs. I would have been in constant bad shape in QL. An active tournament player is usually doing 40+ hours a week.

If they can solve the performance issues of this game and people still play it after quakecon, and maybe a few game play tweaks, I will be back!

For me, nyx, anarki, clutch all need looking at, they break too many rules and they really, really have to solve this horrible treacle feel the game has.

You were grinding ztn hard for a month or two and didn't pass the default 1200 qlranks starting elo from what I remember. Not takin' the piss or anything but you were defintely not 1600-1700 elo material, more like 1300-1400, unless elo in QC is different somehow.

That's because when I came back to quakelive for a bit I simply selected the hardest filter and played those opponents. Most of whom were heavily active in the game, so of course I'm not going to rank well because I was losing heavily instead of building up because I don't care about elo, and knew the best way to get any type of condition is to get owned.

I'll be more than happy to play any 1600-1700 quakelive elo ranked player on ZTN in quake champs and we can gauge it off that if anyone cares enough to prove me wrong.

I'm 39 too, gaming does not get easier with age, when I came back, I ached for days, my back hurt, my pecks hurt, my wrist hurt, from simply doing a days worth of normal mouse movement in a single duel.

experience comes with age, but so does.

A) lack of motivation to play.
B) time to play.
C) will to win.
D) Worse eye sight.
E) Worse reflexes.
F) Other responsibilities you can't ignore that are not as big when you're younger.

I'd be happy for zoot as well (after dealing with some disappointment), after all its hard not to like zoot :p but I'd really love having gaiia qualified. simply one of the most impressing and (for a movement fan) awesome to spectate styles- and mechanical skills I've ever watched. he'd definitely deserve wider recognition for his quake mastery. would be awesome to see some of the more current cpma masters finally get a lil money and glory for their skills. and I'd love to see him kicking voos' ass in a rematch at qc :X
