I want to believe that people will shit on it before it gets released, but in the end it will turn out to be a decent game.

I'm kinda afraid they are going to go half way with it so it looks like a silly copy of OW/TF2 rather than a game with its own strong identity. I don't mind any of the "features" they've promoted, but I'm skeptical if they can pull them through properly.

I'm missing a "will be successful but will not be quake" option. I think it will become a little brother to Overwatch, decent game but not a block buster title really.

ow is a blockbuster in some ways (10mln sales in 1 month, etc), but still, i doubt it will last years and years like q3 in the pro scene.

I just hope that someone gets in a beta that actually has some harsh but very constructive and objective critiscisms . And he\she comes from years of high level play of FPS MP

the amount of hatred and rage that has been will make the developers not want to even go into the comments and check , because it will not make them very positive about discussing with community at all.

Me personally would just like to see this game to become a hardcore fps shooter for "grownups" . Kinda like how the were advertising Quake1 and DooM . "Yes its a niche game, but a damn awesome one"

After playing Overwatch im already fairly sick of it , because of the kid friendly and Moba attitude towards the game . Making the game too casual and reliant of tactical ULT techniques to win a game , instead of pure combat skills shining through . (Yes not very objective here, because i like to shoot stuff, not discuss tactics as a casual gamer) .

Quake is and has always been a shooters game, while OW is mostly a tactical game. I base this mostly from the point of view as a casual player, at high level Quake is ofcourse a tactical game, doh.

I do beleive they will give it an honest effort at making something great, but looking at previous attempts there is atleast a chance that they will just fall short because of stubborn inhouse concepts.(Valve appearently is also giving this inhouse mentality towards TF2 which suffers from community outrage at the moment)

Also , to make the game last as long as other quakes (not counting q4 the clusterfudge) . It needs different modes , one very casual like FFA, (still fairly popular in all of quakes) . And DUEL because many reasons , such as , only 2 players needed to enjoy a nice game, and DUEL is "The Quake mode" if there is such a thing.
DUEL makes legends that with all so enjoy following, TDM makes that one harder., so both , would be great !

I am positive to the attempt at upgrading Quake TDM meta, but for other modes .. uhmmm, not sure about characters for other modes, FFA would be alright i guess, because its the no care mode. Duel ? nah i want even playing fields.

Also , why am i writing this ? Pretty sure it will have 0% effect on the final outcome , meh whatever , its raining outside anyways :P

Am sure the game will be a huge success, i mean, Bethesda is taking a part of it, it is gonna be sucessful for sure, plus, it will have what the current main-stream players want, an FPS moba ala-overwatch, with some tournaments and some marketing here and there ( and ESL and FaceIT ) it will be successful, but am not sure if hardcore quake players will like it, if it feels like Quake, that's awesome, if it will feel like some kind of FPS with champions and powers and spells here and there with a railgun and strafe-jumping, i dont think quake players will love it, i dont think it will even be considered as a " Quake " game, more like a spin-off or something.

I think the extra ability for champions would be great as long as everyone can carry all weapons and keep the quake movement.

I want to see the champions mode as a ctf or team type of game BUT I also want all the classic mods from all previous quakes. Champions should be optional for other game modes.

So long as we can keep everything that makes quake quake, I'm sure it'll be a hit.

From 1.0 to 1.2 it was pretty slow. Sadly also when Q4 had the most players. By the time it got fast it was already pretty dead.

- 2017: a longer qcon gameplay trailer, no release cause syncerror thinks he got eyecancer
qcon q2 duel cup. david gets caught using adderall. purri wont attend cause has to work, dahang almost makes it to the final.
- 2018: pros get access to q5, just to tell id that the game feels like a bad cod copy, however they are not allowed to speak about it.
- early 2019: closed beta
- summer 2019: buggy release for pc. movement is wierd, no brightskins, no ctf, bad fps for amd users. esr comments about syncerror should hang himself.
- 2020 fall: after 6 patches, the game is almost playable, playerbase is still better compared to ql, 125fps still hosting cups, gl to all 6 players
- 2020 december 23: syncerror gets diagnosed with eyecancer. doctor tells him the beautiful colour is a sideeffect
- 2021 summer: q5 gets an sdk, willits showing off a steamworkshop item where they recreated q1 first level with the sdk. however the sdk is bugged as fuck.
- 2021 fall: kickstarter for syncerrors eyetreatment...meanwhile eggarena gets its first public release for backers: game is quake clone with stupid mechanics which makes the game even harder. esport scene dies fast after 2gd depleting the stolen esport sponsor pool.
- 2022: q1 modding scene still active: daz hosting a mapjam 11 with hexen style maps with heavy verticality envolved. q5 still has no promod or brightskins. hitsound is awful.
- 2023 feb 02: +forward get shut down cause nobody contributes
