AFAIK streaming is using a x264 video encoding solution usually (highest quality/performance solution) and your current CPU is outperforming that Intel chip by a bit:

750ti is prly still enough for quaek/cs/... but you could be surprised how much you'd get out of your setup with let's say a AMD 290 or 380 smth (200 €).

Do not buy a dualcore cpu in 2015. If you "don't want to play the latest games" , then continue saving money for your next "proper" upgrade.

Just get a second hand i7 2600k and a second hand Z77.
Should get them both for under £150, why buy a make do, the above setup will last you for years and is not that much.

the x750k could be an option as it uses fm2 so would be a direct replacement for my current cpu

I'd go second hand. Stuff I've bought in the last few years:

3770k = $166 (£110) (This was new actually, store shut down)
7770 = $33 (£20)
R9 290 = $230 (£150)
2500k = $125 (£80)

You should be able to get a 2500k for under $100. I got mine like 3 years ago in SA where we don't have ebay. CPU's are pretty hardy too, I say go for it.

You did not mention ur PSU power supply, the AMD A8-5600k pulls a lot of power, so you need at least 350 to 450W

Beware of the ATX power connectors, the newer ones are diff, but you will not have a 8 pole 12V power connector like i did ...

I'm running everything off a 350watt seasonic at the moment and the i5 uses less than the AMD so it'll be fine.

probably the wd blue over black. i don't think extra cost of the wd black would justified its performance especially if you're also using an ssd, although the wd black has a longer warranty and is supposedly more reliable.

red and green are slower and mainly for storage. red is marketed for nas use.

you might want to look into ssd caching. i haven't tried it though.

true, blue ist the best for OS use and performence over noise & heat, power consuption.

Get the cheapest SSD over a large HDD for the OS, reduces loadtimes very much :)

Get a slow 3500U/min WD-green drive for storage is good enough

I have 8gb (2x4gb) corsiar vengeance low profile 1600mhz ram which I'll be using. However alot of the cheaper motherboards only support 1333mhz max, what is the real world performance difference? Would this be fine with making a saving of about £20.

Be careful with that low profile stuff, some have lower RAM voltage, and you should consider to look for the RAM chart of the mainboard.

The RAM is much faster than the mainboard will be, could be unstable ...

Thanks I'll look for one with that supports 1600mhz. I think the problem with looking at the RAM chart is the motherboards (skt1155) are bit older than the ram, could be wrong though.

The mainboard is OK for the price, but it is a office pc mainboard, so you will get not the most power out of it :)

go ahead and save some money, iv'e seen the prices on ebay for a Asus p8z77-m ... there is not much to save.

cheap mainboards still have ps1 i/o ports for mouse&keyboard, if you go all USB 2.0 then u will have to invest more money.

Another hint is, Asus boards have a nicer way to hadle bios updates, i hate to use some uptate tools like other vendors do.
