I remember I had some issue with him once, but I don't remember exactly what was the case.

He kicked me once as well...a minute or so before the end.

I just realized I never really listened to Aghast. They are pretty good.

* Then you have to change /stopserver to /callvote stopserver too
* And then you can get a situation when player(s) kind of lock you out from your own server (and you can't start a new one)

Simple solution:

- /stopserver would only work when the game is in warmup stage.

It is impossible to kick the owner of a server. Also I don't see why you would have to change the /stopserver command?

You dont get it.. when any player in a duel, be it the server owner or the other guy, wants to abort the game, imo he should get permission from his oponent first. Hence /cv abort. If you change this you'd have to change /stopserver to work only in warmup, or else the server owner can abuse that cmd for the same purpose as /abort curently does.

And what when a jerk join and start to insult and refuse to leave? Or what about if some cheater join(some create standart servers and play in them) and start to abuse 100% rail(hello daddy). There is no perfect solution. If you don't want to be abused dont join that kind of servers. The idea of paying customer is to have all the control over the server he created. There are cases when kicking someone is not abuse. Rare, but they exist.

Also: lol to abort the match vs someone so the lose won't count. Lame as it can gets. :)

Perm or temp banned?

Temp ban for 1-2 weeks approximately. That's not long but it gives good lesson.

CS extends the ban lengths with every violation, it escalates pretty quickly if they keep it up.

If the intent is to pad stats, yes. Just like using an individually valid set of letters is punishable by ban if it spells the word "nigger".

Obviously nobody has a mind reading machine. So if your opponent is beating you fairly and not being a dick, it's gonna be assumed you kicked him/aborted to avoid the loss.

In medieval times there was a pillory and it has been abolished for good reasons. Everyone who get's offended/cheated/abused whatever has the option to report a player to id software. They are supposed to handle these things professionaly and - in may case - the system has worked well. I have not aborted any match since my ban.

Just for info - stat padding / care about elo was not my motivation, it was pure rage.

Consider that people who did offend/cheat/abuse serverrights at some point might not act like this for all time. Its not easy to make the right choices in a rage situation - within a week or two of ban some insight might be gained.

Also half a year might be enough time for offended people to let the dust settle? I just had someone I don't even know tell other specs not to play me because I am an ESR-officialy approved matchaborter. Does not seem healthy to me.

I think leaving these matters to the officials is the right way to deal with it.

I have to defend you in that you have never aborted a game against me or kicked me during a game. You always forfeited before you kicked me, HOWEVER, I think forfeiting and then kicking me because I fragged your corpse was a little lame...

The problem is that I asked you to stop it for I deem it arrogant. It's a waste of ammo and a waste of time and imo is done deliberately to show ownage of the opponent. I have nothing against it when it's done once in a while but if it is done constanly it aggravates me. You played good, but as I told you, just look for other servers.

I expected this kind of question. I analyzed my approach before creating this thread. The truth is that I care of my stats. Most of the players do. I would say everyone who's checking his ELO from time to time on QLRanks or in game. That's not so special, but the difference is that some guys care TOO MUCH.

If you play a match you want to win it. If you're doing great and your opponent stops the match you don't feel like a winner. I don't know if it is matter of record on QL site or not, but it just feels bad that your opponent has absolutely no respect for you.

What's the point of making the thread on ESR? Even that douches will know that they may get banned for such behavior.

This is a rule from User Conduct of Quake Live Terms of Use page that I think is violated in this case:

"interfere with the ability of others to enjoy playing an Id Software software game or take actions that interfere with or materially increase the cost to provide any Service for the enjoyment of all its users."

Btw. funny thing is that QLRanks activity was also a violation by default, but I remember they got permission from ID to do so:

"use automated scripts to collect information from or otherwise interact with the Services or the Website;"
