By the way your intro video is pretty cringeworthy, but I guess using "newbs", "ipwnnewbs" and "leet stuff" is a great way to attract the 12-17 demographic. Judging by your posts here, you were probably greatly involved in the making of said video.

Let's be serious for a second, first of all, where do points come from ? Obviously you really want to attract noobs because your whole concept depends on it, but if they quickly lose all their points they will probably leave the site forever. One way to counter that would be to grant points whenever a player reaches 0 points, but it would lead to a lot of abuse where a player could game the system by creating a lot of dummy accounts.
Without even talking about this, how will you manage to provide a healthy balance between sharks and fish ? And even if you succeed, the sharks don't want to play each other and the fish don't want to play the sharks so there probably won't be a lot of points exchanged. Sure you could decide to hide everyone's profile but it's not realistically possible in a world of games with centralized profiles and such. And even if everyone's profile were hidden, it's still a problem because once again sharks want to play fish and not other sharks.

But I guess everyone should ignore all the real important stuff and just congratulate you on your amazing web design and ability to draw and animate stick figures.

First of all, of course there are flaws, nothing is perfect and plus it is still in development. Sorry if typical gaming banter offended you, didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings.

Second, I'm sure you are guilty of using the "newb" word on a regular basis, and as far as demographic is concerned, the application itself will attract every demographic, but I can understand your skeptical cynicism. And I had nothing to do with the making of the video unfortunately, either way it was well made in my opinion.

Third, attracting "newbs"? Seriously? Is that the only thing you can derive from the concept. The point here is, that almost every person in every game they play, "think" they are the best. "Newb" is thrown around so much it has no merit anymore, the point is that every player whether labeled "newb" or "leet" thinks they are the best, and always has an excuse when they lose. And don't even try to say that's inaccurate.

As far as points are concerned, the rate at which you earn them and how the system itself will work I cannot answer. I am merely an advocate here, I am not involved in any of the development. I can almost assure you they will not be running a campaign where you get free points just because you gamble to zero, this isn't the Obama administration.

In response to the "shark" and "fish" reference, the application is not even in beta testing yet... you can voice these kind of concerns when that happens. Also, I would imagine there will be a slight level of anonymity in a subscribers win/loss and skill level, as this site caters to a gamers ego and if they are willing to risk the points. Also, if a shark doesn't want to play a shark, then the shark isn't a shark after all (that's in my opinion).

Now you are just being brash, there should be no "ignoring" important topics, that's what the beta testing will be for. Everything should be addressed appropriately, but to point out all these flaws before you have even experienced the functionality is ignorant at best. Any upcoming project like this is going to generate some skepticism, but I do appreciate your feedback Grumlouze. You have actually had the most to say and I truly do appreciate that.

You're absolutely right when you talk about a gamer's ego and how everyone thinks they are the best, but as soon as there is a point system involved, especially when you have some real prizes with real value to purchases with those points, I think people start to get a little more self aware of their own skill and limitations.

And when I talked about attracting newbs, it's because it really is the main aspect of the video. I know there will be some leagues, tournaments, chat and so on but when you watch the video you can't deny that most of the time is spent around the concept of leet players owning newbs for points, which is why I talked about attracting newbs merely in order to make the system works.

Yes, no part in the development. I don't even have a stake in this company other than the fact I am an advocate, I am involved however in the base concept. As I signed a non-disclosure agreement with the principles and investors so I am limited in what I can discuss with you gentlemen. It just sounds rather enticing so I offered to advocate it, sure I even see some flaws myself but I unfortunately don't have access to the big picture and what little I do know is beyond what I am allowed to share per legal action. All I can say is sign up, but once again I do appreciate your feedback.
