you probably ended up at a point where you needed a button combo to get into download mode or something and that button combo wouldnt work with the version of your phone.

this happened to me (have a galaxy s). theres a way to get it back using a hack on the microusb port. you can either do it urself using some basic stuff (couple of resistors) or you can buy a usb dongle from ebay which is what i did. cost me 5$ or something and its gold.

Aha I have tried those COMBOS. They worked first. Then I changed the kernel or so oh phone hanged. Littery tried everything man ;) . I just did things without reading stuff later stupid lol. It did nothing more. black sccreen

Google Sky Map - Shows what part of the sky your phone is pointing at. Coolest thing ever.

Google Googles - Takes photos of everything. QR & bar codes, translates text, etc.
Google voice / Skype. When you have wireless it's easier to just use Skype on your phone instead of sitting in front of a computer.
GPS status - Shows where gps satellites are, etc.

A swipe keypad app like slideit or touchpal so you can type way faster.

If you run with your phone then:
Google My Tracks / iMapMyRun will record your route, elevation, speed, etc via gps.
Instant Heart Rate - Measures your heart rate if you put your finger over the camera. Kind of gimmicky but a cool idea. Right now mine is 50bpm.

I impulse bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the airport. It's ok I'm just not entirely sure what to use it for. Too big to be properly portable & just not a laptop. The screen is bewt though.

Nope never used either.

The biggest downside is that you can't multi task, as in stream youtube on one tab and surf on the other. That is really annoying. Beyond that it's great, fast enough, easy to type and responsive.

After 4 month a little resumee.
Galaxy W was not the best choice it seems. the battery does not last more then a day if I use it. That's acceptable in comparison, but at the same time android it is often sluggish, unresponsive, slow. It's a phone, it should just work without delays with his fast 1.4 GHZ cpu...for me it's almost like samsung made it deliberately slow to differentiate the more expensive models.
I mean it sucks ass if even the phone functionality lags, input lags/won't register, actions just freeze for 5 seconds etc.

About android smartphone use I am hugely disappointed as well. I use mine for browsing a little, but it is a pain. it is too slow and too complicated to use quickly on the go.

so the main purpose became playing games. but there are not many good games compared to handheld consoles

oh yeah, I hate the 2.3 keyboard, I can only use it half decent horizontally but it's still a lame experience.
I don't want to invest any time 'learning' how to type on a phone like gesture input or whatever. I gues a phone with hardware keys would be much better for me.

I don't play emulators because I am a handheld gamer/collector so I play the originals, but I guess that can be nice if the emulators and input is good.

I uninstalled the "virus protection" bs and some other stuff running in the backround, so I take my rambling about bad performance back! the phone performance is good now. Faith in samsung restored.

I got used to tilting the phone for typing to get the keys stretched and got a little more used to it. Only with simple adress book functionality it is still awkward and slow as fuck. It's like samsung did not think a smartphone still needed a decent phone functionality lol!

There are too many to list. It seems that any serious developer produces content solely for Apple. The simple reason being the higher level of exposure granted by your content being available on the App Store.

For example I'm not to up to date with the Android Market but the only game I found worth a shot was Zenoia or whatever it's called, some old school top-down RPG. That was 4 months ago.

It's widely accepted amongst my friends and I that Apple cater to a more entertainment focused market than Android does, which I would say caters to a more enthusiast market.

Most android users I know don't have any games on their devices, one reason being there aren't many good titles available but more often than not because they aren't interested in them.

Compare that to your average Apple user who has probably 4 sitting in a 'games' folder on the homescreen.

My rather long-winded point is the same as before. If you want good games on your mobile device - buy an iPhone/iPad.

Out of curiosity I just had a look at the Market then and the only games I found, that are generally considered good where:

Bejeweled
Fieldrunners
Peggle
Angry Birds
Fruitninja

And a few others I forget. Still those have been established titles for well over a year, yet there is hardly any good new content. Just a lot of terrible, shitty knock-offs.

I remember Chillingo being a pretty solid developer on the App Store. A lot of their games were based on very similar templates but they were always presented well. Games on the Android Market don't possess the same level of veneer as opposed to those produced by the Apple-focused developers.
