It will be interesting to see how Germany reacts. There is no way France will follow the austerity line after witnessing the consequences of such action as they have played out in England.
I find austerity to be the least effective way to respond to this type of economic crisis. It just suits Germany because they have managed to dodge most of the blow. Time for them to decide whether they want to be a part of Europe and play ball (and that means accepting the negative aspects) or just play by themselves
yep another bitter pill everyday, its good, you could be one of the two, the worm feeding it to the people smiling, or a brainded moron who cannot understand basic... BASIC economy.
If we have a little bit of luck the german main ship of eu got a huge hit in the nuts now with losing merkozy. Prominents of the european economy like Olli Rehn now have different views the austerity. Now they revolt with the head of european capital bank.
u have no clue (because u hear what the bankers want u to hear). Pay first for my grandfather’s lost leg from the war and for the damage u did and then fucking talk, or declare war on us again, but stop this fucking bullshit.
You have become rich in the expense of the rest of the Europe. Only the English were smart enough to avoid ur sneaky moves. They always had good politicians and not traitor muppets like us. But yes, we kind of deserve it, if for nothing else, at least because we elected them (u r not much better in electing though…).
Apart, from the government sector and the ppl in islands that live mainly from the summer tourism, the ppl in the private sector, used to work here more that 10 hours a day. Now, of course, young ppl have no chance at working at all. Read, some UK or French reports to see who works the most and who works the least in EU (it is not what u think). Personally, I have worked in UK, Cyprus and Athens and believe me the most demanding and longest hours were in Athens.
I didn't know Alexander the Great invaded Germany. Also, I find it interesting that u compare Hitler with Alexander, maybe we should call Hitler the Great as well.
and my grandfather did lost his leg in the war... in this century, trying to save Greece, Europe and the World, from ur superior race, which u still believe to be true (obviously). Ur hard working race and the ouzo drinking Greeks... u never change.
some questions you may try answering in your thick balky skull:
1. did ffx invade me?
2. is Germany not paying reparations the cause of us being fucked right now?
3. if we're first in working hours why aren't we even top 20 in productivity?
4. do we pay taxes and obey the law?
5. is tourist german?
1) no, but did ffx lend me money? (have in mind that I haven’t get a penny even from my country, not ffx, and I already pay huge taxes)
2) no, but it is certainly not because the Germans work more than us either. The speculations are many. If I had to pick one right now, I would say that what happens here it’s a crash test. If it’s successful (seems to be), it will move on and spread to other countries.
3) it is partly explained in the articles why we aren’t, but there is more to it.
- we have to service the army for 1-2 years, instead of working and getting money and experience (we spend also a lot in defence).
- we are part of Balkan, not the most prosperous area.
- we are always in wars, mostly defensive, probably because of the strategic importance of our geographic location (connecting point for Europe, Asia and Africa). It is really hard to prosper like that.
- we don’t put the best ppl in the right positions, which together with the army service makes some of the best Greeks choose to work abroad, in countries that appreciate their skills. That’s obviously our mistake.
- yes, the government sector mostly sucks.
4. yes, we pay and obey the law, the most of us. The ppl that didn’t, still don’t and the crisis hasn’t and will not affect them. All the money that the government squeezes out of us, are from decent, obedient citizens, that had nothing to do with the crisis in the first place. The scams always find ways to avoid the consequences and have the power to do it (they are also supported by EU).
5. apparently not, but for some reason I always thought of u as German. You shouldn’t through oil in the fire though.
1. "have in mind that I haven’t get a penny even from my country"
why haven't you? last time I checked EU was throwing 250bn EUR at you people. where did that money go?
2. "that what happens here it’s a crash test"
why thank you greece for doing this wonderful crash test so the rest of us don't have to. we totally appreciate it.
3. this doesn't even make any sense. if you have a 2yr army service your hours should be less, not more. or do they count the hours of standing on some useless patrol as productive hours? one has to wonder who collects this data and how. could it also be that people report huge working hours so they recieve 15 paychecks + bonuses?
"- yes, the government sector mostly sucks."
too bad half of your population "works" in it.
face it, even if you personally are working hard and paying taxes the rest of you aren't. stop lying to yourself and accept reality. Greece is fucked because of Greece, not Germany, world war 2, the turks or whoever.
Although previous Greek governments are certainly very much to blame for the situation their country is in today, you still need to read up on how some of the economic policies of Germany (in particular) have affected Greece.
granted things like these are always a combination of factors, but to believe Greece is this fucked up because of some other country's wage policy? rofl.
either that or you're an intellectually sub par balky with poor reading comprehension. keep blaming myths and imaginary enemies for your fail country, like a good balky should.
u actually made me google in order to understand why u give such weird and out of context responses. While I just mentioned my grandfather’s lost leg, u keep mentioning and talking about the war, like it is the main subject here. That made me google “Croatia in world war II” and came up with results such as:
no, I am not implying that and neither care about what might happened then. Like I said, I found ur responses weird and tried to find the reasoning behind them. What made u click was anything said about the war. Even ur entry reply was about that. Why? U r not even German. Since I am a very curious in nature and want to understand everything (bad habit), I gave google a shot. I just pointed the results and said that I now understand what drove ur replies better and that I don’t blame the war. I am not implying anything. The most I know about Croatia is about its basketball team that used to beat our asses (now that role is taken by Spain).
ffs let us leave. U think we want that?, see our elections. It is the EU that uses the traitor Greek politicians to keep us in order to squeeze as much from us as possible, not the Greeks.
the last year was like a dictatorship here. The goverment was doing whatever he wanted (what EU wanted) and wasn't listening the least to its ppl. In the elections they only took 13% and that only because of old ppl that will keep voitng them no matter what.
mixed feelings: they made steps in the right decisions before everyone else to save their economy, but on the opposite this was made possible because we bought their stuff too high, and as their main economic partners are european ones, we (= south countries including fr) 're in big shit now.
He looks like a definite desk clerk, like von rompuy, athough not being charismatic, but also not a routhless attendant of the german market, or time will tell.
EU wont be able to handle the influx of cooller babies thanks to the contract conditions that state that cooller must have the most attractive human female specimen from each EU country.
I had to check their names but Axel Bauer, Yael Naim and three other women. We arrived when Noah was singing though, so I don't know if anyone sang before him.
