That's quite intersting, even if it's my job (not in the game industry though)

indeed.. I did not watch it today tho, but i was watching it a lot and it brought up very nice and good memories:)

I had a good friend a long time ago who was a very good game programmer (still the best I ever met or heard about). I met him when I went to work in the industry onto my first project (it was Ecco on the Genesis), and we were working together for a long time.
Once a few years later, there was a very talented demo coder guy who I invited into our team, and my friend started teaching him how to code games. The guy was an asm genius but needed experience, and games are so complex, he had to learn how to build up and organize the code to be able to see and manage the whole thing in one without loosing control.
The final test was that he had to make a game under just one night from scratch... I will never forget that night in my life.
The whole team were staying awake to express solidarity. We just received Descent beta to have a look and it was awesome and we were playing that but had to pause in every 10 minutes just to be able to see how things are going in the other room:) He made a pretty awesome asteroid game, and finished shortly after noon next day:)
