Get them while you can. The 1.1 and WMO were just pulled from the MS site and few months back.

Support/production of the 2nd gen WMO's with 3.0 PCB ended back in 2008 according to the lifecycle page. I do find it weird that IME3.0 will remain supported until April of 2012 though.

If noone has guessed it, the comfort bluetrack 3000/4500/6000 are replacing the classics.

It's a shame the polling rate on those mice is locked in at 125hz. The sensor is rated up to 72ips (1.8m/s, but it malfunctions at 40 (1m/s) potentially due to an 8 bit data path. :\

Thankfully, the Abyssus has filled the niche. As much as I love my WMO, I switched to one and I haven't looked back.

I've heard of people using the same wmo for nearly a decade, whereas I know people who have gone through 2-3 abyssus' in a couple months. Apparently the buttons are really fragile plastic.

isn't it all about the sensor? if the plastic breaks it can be repaired (dental acrylic is good for that)

i found a swedish site that sold them for ~7euro, but it wasnt listed on their homepage, had to find the link to the item page through an external site. but ordered and it worked, so awesome!
