I can't see myself moving out of my parents for a while yet... Moving in with my friends is starting to sound like a bad idea.

I've stayed with relatives and friends when I was studying and working in another city. Just can't convince myself to do it again due to the fact that it was plain horrible.

If I could afford to live alone I defo would...infact i'm pretty sure i'd love it. £500 a month rent on my own is abit much currently.. Until I get a pay rise or get a better job it won't happen.

A friend of mine who was living with his parents rented out a small apartment in the same locality. He called it The Bachelor Pad..lol. Of course financial constraints will always govern such decisions but in his case, his will to have his space was more important to him.

So far, I've been unable to do that. When I used to stay with my friends, stupid things started getting in the way and that's why I'd always avoid it.

Do you live in India and have you spend some time in Europe or America? And if so, where did you make your experiences?

Because from the very little I know about living in India I could imagine that there are significant differences to Europe, both culturally and regarding living conditions.

to be honest the difference in living conditions in a major city in India and the west is not that much as it used to be, but yeah there is a huge difference in the psyche of the people.

Yep, stayed in the U.S. for one year with a friend. Like you said, we didn't have fitting lifestyles and that got in the way plenty of times. Even though living alone has its own downside, in case of medical emergencies specifically or other incidents.

Haven't had any stints in Europe so can't say.

Been living with roommates ever since I moved out and can really recommend it.

Of course, they have to have somewhat fitting lifestyles. Couldn't imagine living with a 20 year old who just left home as a working person. Or moving with with people when I just started to study :)

Are your roommates people you didn't know before hand or friends?

I would probably prefer to live with people I didn't know, that way we could have disagrements and it wouldn't make much difference as to whether we fell out or not.

Living with friends I could see myself falling out with them over stuff. Not really what I want to happen :<

Sometimes I moved in with people I already knew and other times they were strager, but of course there is an audition. Usually we talk to about 10 people until we make a decision.


About the worries.

Yes, that can happen. A good friend of mine was actually thrown out by her roommate and until then, friend.
But again, it really depends on the people.

I moved in with three friends in my current appartment a while back and we are all laid back people, so it was really fun and no huge problems. Lot's of fun shouting, though. We called it a harmonic "against-each-other". Great times :D

I guess the most important part is to have clear rules regarding cleaning up and food/alcohlic supplies and to respect closed doors.

I would be moving in with my 2 best mates. I did manage living with them in Cyprus for 2 months last year. It wasn't 2 bad, but it's alot different moving in because you can't just pack your bags and come home when things get abit hairy.

We'd have to have some arrangement I think, just incase someone decided to move out. We could always just get a tennant if that happend.

It has it's advantages/disadvantages.. I certainly never said it's a good thing for someone my age. I just don't get what the big deal is.

Renting your own place is expensive, buying is a problem if you're not settled and know you don't want to stay where you are for work/life etc.

Renting with others is tricky, even friends can cause problem, strangers, even more so.

On the last day I moved out I realsied someone across the landing had been going into my room every morning while I was in the shower and stealing money.

For at least a year I thought I was going slightlynuts, money missing, jackets just vanishing, even videos just going, but being messy and having quite a lot of money I never cared or realised, but something just clicked on the last day and I set a trap.

Really put me off renting again with anyone.

Bank usually allow to change the debt to another object, while you can sell the original one. Of course there are risks involved, but a rule of thumb (in Germany) is that staying in the place for three years makes buying worthwhile.

This is the most exciting thing i've done in ages though with full time work and studying... but alot of stuff happened that I haven't really mentioned. Wasn't nearly as boring as it sounds.

Lolz, been living with other people (read: non family) for 2 and a half years. No massive arguments, just occasional annoyances. If that is troublesome for you then I can't help you. If you think you'll easily have issues with others then either they are cunts, are you are one.
