For the past few days a few problems have come up for the WarCraft 3 ladder in Europe... yes Blizzard are well truely following in the footsteps of their past efforts when Diablo 2 began.
From what I know the Ladder is down for Warcraft 3: Nothrend (EU), quite simply this means everyone is doomed. Asia is far too laggy even if you lived there, and there've been questions about the servers which they're being hosted on and such... yet US East & West are also too laggy. It looks as though the ladder will be down for a while, whilst Blizzard think.
Despite the ladder being down, custom games are still said to be playable.
