I've got tons of emotions and I still do lots of stupid things! Can't be arsed to write about them though... Although... here is a journal that didn't happen!

"Going back home

After being in Europe for nearly 3 years, I've decided to return to South Africa on the 3rd of June. It was a difficult decision, as I feel like I've actually carved out a life for myself here, but at the same time I miss my friends, my family and the Sun.

The main things I'm going to miss are:
- public transport
- being able to buy "toys" quite easily (Since I've been here I've bought a laptop, a pc, a skateboard, an intuos wacom pad, tons of books, a nintendo DS, expensive running shoes, loads and loads of clothes, etc.)
- Internet! My god! I'm going back to 384kbit with a 3 gigabyte cap! Pray for me! (I'm downloading like crazy at the moment!)
- Travelling (But I have been thinking of taking a few "african" trips next :)
- My housemates who are awesome.
- Cultural things and bands and all that stuff!
- No crime... weird to walk around and feel safe, you don't feel like running and screaming when a black guy comes to ask you what the time is (Haha that was a joke, it's not THAT bad in SA)
- Quake

God it's been so good over here, it's so nice to be able to play in some friendly tournaments and just join a game and go. I did get back into it for a couple of months, but at the end of the day I'm a bit old and found it hard to keep up playing every day to get better etc. The last few months I've hardly been playing, and I've found work/art/girls/going out a bit more interesting. The main problem I couldn't be arsed to correct all my bad habits I've built up playing casually for 8 years. Aim was fine but... anyway, I probably won't be playing much when I get back.

Things I'm not going to miss:
- Being in the same country as Jamerio (Wales is only like a province of England right?)
- Weather (shit.)
- People (shit.)
- TV (shit.)
- Rent (£550 per month for a room, YAY!)

Well hoping to play some TDM before I leave, atm trying to get two friends from SA (In the UK) started up, both high skill >>> but meh, busy with lots atm. Ich lerne Deutsch! (My target is to be able to speak to someone simply after two weeks, been doing 2 hours a day since Monday).

Well honestly I would be more into it if I had any "real life" friends that played. One of my old old friends from 7 years ago visited me on the weekend and it was so awesome just talking quake, we sat up until like 3AM watching old quake movies. That's the type of shit that gives you motivation. There is another guy that I know that does live in London, but no PC :(((

In SA we lan a lot as opposed to online, more fun.

Last post on the matter I remember from you was a bit more bised towards South Africa, while this one sounds more like pro Europe, especially if you moved somewhere with better weather and lower rents ;)

Well it wasn't finished yet, but I would say Europe and SA are like 50/50. There are good and bad points... well Cape Town is amazing though. I really really like London, but Cape Town destroys it. I could probably live in some other countries in europe though... but there is that whole language thing which takes time, and all the germanic languages (Which I could probably learn easily) are in shitty climates.

TV is terrible in the UK, but it's better than SA :) Don't care either way.

Weather in Southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria is a lot better than England.
Just had 20+°C in Munich, yesterday.

But yeah, it won't beat South Africa.

Well, I kinda would like to take a look eventually, a friend of mine also told me he enjoyed it, but right now I can think of enough alternative goals that are safer to travel.

lol, it's really not that dangerous, SA is like two different countries in roughly the same area, you stay to the good areas and there's about the same amount of crime as a major European city. As a tourist it is very doubtful you would experience any crime at all. I lived there my whole life and I've never been mugged or assaulted or experienced violent crime.

So, it's just the deciing factor that makes me want to try other places, first.
