Have u tried the "removing last pin" trick, i dont know if this would work or not... Maybe someone with more knowledge of the subject could say?

I've already seen few threads about that but it was only for DVI input/output, can't find a proper tutorial for VGA plus the fact I don't wanna "kill" my CRT cable because it's hard to replace on my monitor... I need to be certain about what I'm doing :x

You can buy a vga extension and remove the pin on there, if it fucks up you're still safe :)

I could but I don't know which pin to remove and how, that's why I'm looking for a clear explanation / tutorial :)

?? I've never had any problems getting 120hz for QL in Windows 7. Just set the refresh rate in quake.

Are you talking about laptop + CRT ? Cause I can get 120Hz without any problem on my desktop too :) And as I said at the beginning, r_displayrefresh doesn't do the job for me :/

I'll try and let you know but from what I've read it seems to be an hardware issue (pin blocking signals and stuff like that)... Thanks anyways, will post later ;)

Found this and that ... That might do the job, will tell you later :)

In vista I had to create custom resolutions in the Nvidia control panel (ie 640*480@120hz and so forth) for my CRT plugged into my laptop.
That made r_displayrefresh work in q3, ql...

Try that out before butchering a VGA connector :)

I can confirm that removing pin #12 of my VGA patch cable allows me to access more resolution but more important, it allows to use 120Hz without any problem :)
