the hud and stuff is promode style, but movement is all VQ3 so far. it would be nice if they added promode physics so you could vote for it or something. but i would say your safest bet is play VQ3. or promode with VQ3 physics enabled! good luck getting an invite! :P

QL which equates to CQ3

although I like the pacing better in QL. It's not quite as fast as CQ3 yet it's not quite as slow as VQ3 (not touched CQ3 in a while so I could be a little bit off).

In perfect world id would release QL then patch VQ3 to match it. That would rule.

CQ3 is much slower than QL!
QL has faster movement acceleration, weapon switching, weapon reloads etc. CQ3 is much closer to original Q3, 'cause it has just some unnoticeable changes atm.

The basic difference bw CQ3 and QL is map/mode/player purpose.
CQ3 balance is oriented to actual maps (ztn, hub, nodm9, dm6, t4, t2, pukka* and cpm*), actual modes (1v1, 2v2 and tdm) and dense-blooded players (osp, vq3 and cpm) atm.
(Old)new QL maps are (re)designed for QL gameplay, QL gameplay is designed for new modes, new modes are designed for new players.
So VQ3/CQ3 won't be QL-ish ever.

QL gameplay is almost finished today. But CQ3 has some interesting features designed for future cpma versions and oriented to the hardcore gamer.
Carmack says QL will act like training ground for gamers to prepare for (hardcode) matches based on (competitive) Q3 mods.
So may be CQ3 is good enough to prepare for QL today. But things can change.

Never forget that newbish whines are even more powerful, 'cause of the amount. Simplier game means easier life for devs. :)

ql because it's possible to actually join a random server, play quake and have fun instead of doing 'pickups' or whatever gay shit the dying vq3 and cpm communities are doing these days.

Ppl like playing GAMES - not playing with that menus, random stuff, random teams, random teammates and random newbs.
It is about the GAME itself. I won't give any shit for the menus, if the game is really good.

Most of cpm and vq3 gamers know enough to find strong opponents and teams fast.
But a newb always gets his ass kicked, so he really needs random-ping opponent of his not random skill.

The topic is actually about how to become enough skilled before the fight.
You say 'forget it, don't play dying cpma and play random when it is done'. I say 'play the game you like and when QL is finished, you won't need any other skills than yours'. Maybe you'll get fun from 1v1. Or maybe you won't get fun from massive battlefield-like random teamplays.

If you say that you can play QL TDM ClanWar 4v4 on a special server anytime, I'll ask you WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

i'm not saying 'dont bother, just wait until ql comes out and play it', i'm saying 'fuck both of them and try as hard as he can to get an invite to quake live, because that's where the random is, and thus the newbie fun'.
