According to developmag, Kwari the online game that offering 'cash for kills' has run out of money and gone into receivership.

Kwari, the 'cash for kills' online FPS which offered players the chance to win money by betting on their performance, has closed just a year after it launched.

The company behind game, designed in the UK but managed by Australian web firm Micro Forte, has reportedly gone into receivership. Last year in 2007 they celebrated 22 years of existing. The business had expected to make money by asking players to pay for bullets used during gameplay, but clearly the company ran out of ammo itself.

In February i made a news post called Kwari: $20K Jackpot Won.
The Official website kwari.com has been down for 2 weeks, and the page kwarithegame has very little information to offer.

I run gameriot and actually don't read ESR much anymore :\ I found this via search today and was kind of surprised.

The frontpage of Gameriot has been changed to make room for more communities to live on the site at once. The 'old site' still exists entirely under the current World of Warcraft portal, which is named as such to indicate that it is a community of players who came from World of Warcraft.

All content can still be posted in each portal, whether it be eSports (where my roots come from), Brawl, or anything else! We're just still figuring out how to spotlight all of that content.

The change was made to pave way for more communities, such as a TRUE eSports community (rather than a few sporadic posts) to exist on the site in its own area and resist being flamed or pushed off the page constantly by constant WoW posts.

I doubt it, within a few weeks of launching they would have realised it was a big bag of fail. That what happens when they not let me beta it.

In the UK, even reputable TV companies are coming under fire for rigging phones in. People who work on the show etc allocating prizes to mates, or no chance of winning etc.

There is a possibility the guy that won was simply affiliated with the thing in some way and it was nothing but PR stunt. Who knows really, there plenty of shit heads around who would pull stunts like that. Just look at CPL.

I really don't trust the whole shady fucking thing.
It was a good concept but the game was shit. They deserved it for that reason alone.
