Pro Gam3r is a new magazine targeted towards the competitive gaming scene to be released as a
QuakeCon collector’s Item.
On August the 2nd at QuakeCon in Dallas the Pro Gam3r magazine will be released. It will be given as a collectors item to all those who will be attending QuakeCon.
“The magazine is very important to us because we feel that professional gaming is in a stage comparable to the early days of professional surfing and skateboarding. eSports is the next “extreme sports” movement. Skateboarding had magazines focusing on visuals and through those publications they made their athletes stars. We’re doing the same thing,” said Ted Hover, Chief Executive Officer, MyGameRoom.
Many people have been wondering about the magazine availability in Europe and right after QuakeCon we will try and work something out so please be patient.
DALLAS - July 29, 2007 - MyGameRoom, a network of web sites and technology solutions designed for the emerging eSports space, will release their new gaming magazine, Pro Gam3r, at the 12th annual QuakeCon™ (Aug. 2 - 5, 2007 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas).
“The magazine is very important to us because we feel that professional gaming is in a stage comparable to the early days of professional surfing and skateboarding. eSports is the next “extreme sports” movement. Often described as the “Woodstock of Gaming,” QuakeCon was created in August of 1996 by a group of friends on the IRC network’s EFnet who had a desire to meet in person. Less than 100 attendees gathered at the Best Western in Garland, Texas that first year to play and talk games and compete in the first QuakeCon tournament. id Software’s lead programmer John Carmack and several other id team members stopped by to chat with fans about DOOM, QUAKE, and the future of an up-and-coming id Software.
Going into its 12th year, QuakeCon remains true to its original mission as an event created by gamers, for gamers. Sponsored by id Software and other industry-leading software and hardware manufacturers, QuakeCon continues to be run by a dedicated group of 30 year-round volunteers and more than 200 on-site volunteers. More than 6,000 people attended QuakeCon in 2006, and the event has expanded to include the entire series of QUAKE games, Return to Castle Wolfenstein®, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, DOOM 3™, and now Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars.
