Gotta love Q4. Instead of the issues getting better, they get worse. When I try to play these digital life demos, it tells me i'm missing 3 pk4's. The funny thing is, i'm not missing them. They're sitting in the same place they've always been. Oh yeah, and the even better error is the one that tells me I have all the necessary files. It's even better because, even with all the necessary files, the demo still does not work. Somehow q4 magically took a turn for the worse.

if u have have everything and it still does not work, try to use demo_enforceFS 0

This is somethig I noticed too. My guess is it has to do with the addon.conf in the new patch and those maps not being added to the purelist automatically.

The way I get it to work is to start a listen server on the map the demo is on, disconnect, and then load the demo.

It's a pain in the ass but at least it works.

why don't you try q4replay it's works for me although it tells me files are missing.

Maybe i'll try q4 demos in another year. They're just wasting my time the way they are now.

This anti-lame-tactics thing of mine is not new. I've always been against it. Back when I played WFA (5+ years ago), I was like the police for this type of gameplay. Any time someone start using lame tactics, and I was around, i'd stop whatever I was doing and kick the living shit out of them until they either stopped or quit the game. I developed a reputation for it. People would actually ask me for help when someone used these lame tactics against them. Unfortunately, even though these tactics are pathetic, they are effective against most people.

WFA was kind of funny cause I was such a good guy, but the people in the community considered me and my clan the bad guys. They called us things like 'psychological terrorists'. I was 'chemist' for all you wf players. And for all you corporate scumbags, pray to your god of money I do not figure out how to, figuratively speaking, kick the shit out of you until you stop doing evil shit.

if "something" tells you you're missing maps that you have, and that "something" is not the demo menu, then blame that "something".

Seismovision and q4replay will both want you to have i.e /q4max/that_map.pk4 if that's what it sees in the demo header.

What actually happens though is that q4 sees it whether it is in q4base/q4max - which is why we have comments such as #9.

for these demos it said i was missing 3 files as well...however i just copied the 3 ...monsoon , placebo and phrantic from q4base to q4max folder ..then q4replay said i was good to go.

As I just said in post #10, that's useless. :)

rename the demo to dem.netdemo and then go to console and type playnetdemo dem.netdemo
