The level of play actually increased through Quake Live, not that this game wasn't amazing.

I've also followed ql tourneys, but can't remember anything as impressive as that. look at the fucking shots. incredible.

Q3 hitbox is monstrously bigger tho.

Actually used that in a piece I wrote about an introduction to esports, this match is one of the best I've ever seen. An insane game with lots of comebacks and plot twists.

That was not a good match. Sure, it's close and crazy, but the mental part of the game is completely lacking. Both of those guys made key mistakes when they were in control. Base repeatedly bullied Cooller with his aim, then let him off the hook allowing Cooller to stack back up and eventually get both big items without any real fights, due to his poor item control. Looks like a duel between two 1800 elo players.

Just come back to pickups already.

Considering that hes called fragmaster, doesnt discern between q3 and ql and wants to "show off" the game, Im pretty sure thats what he wants, just a demo with "sick shots and smooth moves"

the vods are too old and have been ruined by youtube, but the back to back tournaments of msi beat it and dreamhack winter was the best thing to watch live. it was also when cypher got in the finals of both tournaments, and won the second.

Op asked for matches to showcase to friends, you dimwits. Oscure, slow and tecnical matches are the last thing you want to show them.

Quakecon 2016? Yeah, show that shit. And rest assured the quake population will stay steadily in the negative growth. A 30 minute match when you hardly ever see a glimpse of the opponent.

That stuff is great only if you know what's going on. If you're someone that has never seen quake before, you'll find minecraft play tutorials more engrossing.

To answer to op: almost any match that had Avek or Strenx. Avek for the nonstop aggressive action, Strenx for a toned down but more painful style for the opponent. Newbs can understand the brutality of Strenx's shafts and rails even if they've never seen the game before, and that's why Strenx was one of the most popular players when active.

Additionally, his very slow sensitivity allowed for one of the least twitchy spectating experiences- that helps.

In the same style then, you can't go wrong with "Fatality vs Aim". Fatality also had a non twitchy style, and that was a spectacular comeback. It's the video that started me to quake, i used to download the .flv file from youtube with old programs on a 56 k connection.
