Do you know of any vods / youtube videos of top qw games and maybe some tutorials to co-alongside with it? I've been thinking of playing it online but I just don't know how it's played :D would be nice to know what I'm doing before I have a dabble with the mp.

There's some commentary out there from the big tournaments, I don't have any links handy though...

join #qwrookie on quakenet, then hop on a ffa server and start playing.
qw ffa is actually fun, unlike with most other id games. if you played fps before you will get the shooting part, the movement isn't that hard to learn either once you got the basics down.

Thanks phil and zealot :) great help. Will definitely check out quakeworld when I get the chance! If the movement is in any way similar to cpm then I shouldn't have much of a problem ;p except for maps of course!

liked the commentaries. If i wasn't having so much fun in bf3 i'd play quakeworld, sounds like it's doing great.

It's doing good in Europe, not North America really. You can find some games at night and week ends but QL has way more pub action going on. The great thing about QW is very few aliases, and almost all the pickup games are private game quality due to the small tight community.

Actually recently there has been a spike in 4on4 activity in north america quakeworld recently, in no small part due to the influx of players sta has caused

That's cool, I've actually played in a few myself. I think the 2v2 tourney died down because it has had the same problem NA QW always has had games are basically decided before they are played due to skill differences of teams. I've been seeing F stacking teams in 4v4 pickup games, it's AG all over again, zzz. I have better things to do with my time than play in those.

Didn't watch it yet, but I'm sure it is awesome! :)
