"The driver nv4_disp is not functioning properly and has been shut down. Please restart your computer, and a log of this error will be generated to be sent to Microsoft"
The other one is apparently comming from Q3, as you can see the Q3 logo with "Low Desktop Color Depth" at the windows status bar.
It says: "Low Desktop Color Depth. It is higly unlikely that a correct windowed display can be initialized with the current desktop display depth. Select 'OK' to try anyway. Press 'Cancel' if you have a 3Dfx Voodoo, Voodoo-2 or Voodoo Rush 3D accelerator insalled, or otherwise wish to quit." Options are "ok or cancel".
Both will make the screen go black with a blinking _ . The solution for that was pressing the restart button on my PC case.
My rig : Q6600, 8800GT. Running Crysis at high specs without problems, so its not an overheating issue. Drivers are at the latest version (169.21). This happened me about 5 times now, 4 online, 1 watching a demo. The server was sv_punkbuster 0, but i'll try to completely remove pb by removing the pb folder and try again (with pb noone knows what is possible). Is not the same thing i've been reading here about "fps drops, or suddendly stuttering for 1 - 2 seconds, then fine, then stuttering again". Here it simply freezes forever and what I described happens. I already tried disabling "threaded optimization" at the nvidia control panel.
I doubt CPMA mod is causing such a fucked up crash, but I'll try if it happens with OSP or baseq3 also. I still haven't tested out with ChallengeQ3.exe, but i'd like to be able to play Q3 with original quake3.exe because of the punkbuster problems the updated exe has. Appart from that, it feels really weird when moving arround, like if the fov wasn't the same as with the original quake3.exe (don't ask me to be more precise, but its certainly not the same for me).
And thats all.
