There's two ways to do it. You can either:

A.) r_displayrefresh "insert refresh rate here"

or

B.) set it manually in your video card drivers

refreshrate is r_displayrefresh which requires a vid_restart to take effect

dont know of any monitors that will do 125. setting it to 125 will revert to 60 prolly anyway.

Theres nothing like a full sync 125fps setup, smooth as silk.

eh well then thats outside the refresh limits for my monitor at 1024. r_swapinterval 1 does the same @ 120. i dont need 125 fps anymore.

i play at 800x600 on a 29" CRT TV from a 2 meter distance =) but when i played with a monitor i used those settings. Try lowering the def to 800x600 and try it, then you can compare...

Vsync is shit, keep swapinterval off if you don't want it laggy :D

w/o vsync tearing occurs, try r_finish 1 to cure inputlag.
