So who qualifies then?

clamp-ok from the online qualifiers as he won O_o

yeah, but who else is going to the final?

no idea *shrug* thats the only info i got :/

ah ok it looks like " 4 winners from each game will be awarded an auto-berth into the Top-16 Elimination Bracket at the DigitalLife $100,000 Pro/Am Tournament Finals"

and "In September, there will be a regional LAN qualifier in Miami. The top 2 players from the Miami qualifier in Quake 4 will earn auto-berths into the Top-16 Elimination Bracket at the DigitalLife $100,000 Pro/Am Tournament Finals."

"GGL will also invite the top 2 players from the AmeriCup II season. Invited players will be offered free hotel rooms in New York during DigitalLife."

"The remaining spots (8) in the Top-16 Elimination Bracket for each game will be filled by either open online registration , or by walk-up "Play-In" competitions the first day of DigitalLife. Registration for the open spots, and advance registration for the Play-In tournaments, will be available here at www.digitallife.ggl.com after the online qualifiers are complete, along with additional details, starting 9/20/06 at noon EST. We'll also maintain a waiting list beyond the available slots in case of no-shows. Players/teams electing this method of qualification will be responsible for their own travel and accommodations."

heh, well, as for the miami qualifier - it's no longer september. this whole event seems shady, but, hey, it's the ggl

Final 4 from the online qualifier are all in.

clamp-ok
DaHang
chance
griffin

Invites

Fatal1ty
Lost_Cause
gellehsak
Toxic
av3k
2gd

Then we have the 2 from the miami qualifier and then whoever else shows for the walk up qualifier at the event itself.

ty will add that :)

when was/is miami qualifier ?

Last week. I was trying to go, but no luck getting plane/hotel money. I doubt the qualifier even happened, as would be expected with the GGL's lack of organization and thick-headed staff like DonKing.

Also, inviting gelleh is retarded, especially since he's said several times he doesn't care much for Q4 and players like Ztrider and Cooller deserve to go more than him.

it did happen DaHang won but he has qualified online too so 2nd + 3rd place from Miami are going ...awaiting confirmation of this along with names.

Well, that was a fast response. Fairly new to ESR, so, ummm, moving on then.

So does Dahang get access to two hotel rooms or does the 2nd place finisher get the free hotel room now?

goes to 2nd i guess

i wish!

uh the qualifier did happen, dahang won it but we're probably going to send 2nd and 3rd since he already qualified online.

Well, I figured we would have heard something about it if it did happen, but there wasn't any coverage so yeah. =P

Just because he doesn't care for the game doesn't mean that he sucks at the game. ;>

I never implied that he sucks, just that there are a handful of people who are more deserving of an invite than gelleh but did not receive one (ie, Ztrider, Cooller, Forever, etc.).

So what? Then look at it as an opportunity.

Fair enough. :>

He's not on the same skill level as the top 15 in quake4. He's top 32 I'd say, but that's probably because he doesn't prepare as well as he should for events. But should he be rated on what he 'might' be able to do, or what he has done?

Either way I don't care that he's going. He's a top player in all the games he plays. Just saying as far as quake4 goes, he's out of the loop.

wha wha wha!

got an invite and declined, guess why ?

GGL? :D Or maybe WCG so soon after. Or maybe both.

or maybe both

Editegd.

only three people showed up to the florida qualifer, dahang won, twinillusion (kyuubi) got 2nd, and dahang's personal friend got third

I will be at this even to spec clamp-ok and tap him on his shoulder whie he is playing.

Why are you guys inviting Toxic. Somebody else would like to win that cash ;)

why wasn't socrates invited?

Thanks for the kind words Adv3nt. To clarify a few things. DaHang won the cash at the Miami LAN and the 2nd placed winner gets the travel, that's kyuubi.

socrates was invited as well as cl0ck, socrates declined to participate because of another event and cl0ck has issues with school.

Adv3nt, if gel did not care about Quake 4 he would not be coming.. so he obviously does care.

sux :( cl0ck and soc pwnz :(

No need to jump to conclusions now--Digital Life has cash prizes as you should know, and he said in his CPL Winter interview with iTG that he's basically playing Quake 4 for the money (look for
"Gamer Spotlight - Gellehsak" in GGL TV's CPL Winter section). Unless he's changed his mind about the game since then, he obviously doesn't care about the game.

fuck you.

=(

Maybe he's liking it since 1.3 or something? Don't presume to know things better than the players themselves :D

I talked to him on IRC afterwards and, based on what he told me, his stance on Q4 doesn't seem to have changed.

You really think all these top players play for fun!? Of course not. They play for the money.

if you play quake 4 for fun you have some sort of mental disease

And dan, stfu - - - - - i meant i love you.

;D

I was about to say how a lot of people play Quake 4 for the money but everyone else just did that!! I said he cares about Quake 4 and he does, he cares about the money he can win from Quake 4, does he play Quake 4 cuz it's a great game and it's fun!? Ofcourse not, only a handful of people do. Quake 4 is a POS. Oh, BTW, Gel donated all his winnings from PainKiller to charity because he loved the game and did not play for money!!

q4 has Q4tv on the way. And that's not a rumor. 1.4 will have it.

woot \o/ linklinklink that backs your statement up :) that's too good to be true, what are all q4 haters gonna do? :S ah right, soundbugs :>

[...] does he play Quake 4 cuz it's a great game and it's fun!? Ofcourse not, only a handful of people do. Quake 4 is a POS.

what does being a POS mean?? please tell me!!

"Piece Of Shit" :)

rofl toxic will own everyone

yep. easy money for toxic.. not that ggl will pay out though

ooo I can hardly wait to see what eDrama Clamp causes this time. For an aussie he sure acts like an american, bout time to change the flag eh Clamp?!

if he gets an austrailian flag i deserve a german flag for being born there.

Don't like Canada? =(

didnt you get to pick when you signed up? I think I did.

Maybe i should wear an Oklahoma flag. Oh how i miss USA's old Confederate government

I have to say, I like the idea of having online 'qualifiers' and a lan final. Maybe the overall best setup would be to have like a year-long season, with lan-finals for the top finishers. It'd be good for the following reasons, and maybe others I have not yet thought of:

A: You could set it up so each division is determined by region. Like in the US, there would be an east, central and west division. This way everyone gets to play with nice low pings, and the top people from each region play with even lower pings at the finals.

B: The expenses are lower since only the top finishers would play in the finals and there is only one traveling event.

C: There isn't an overwhelmingly large volume of matches at the finals, so it would be better for spectators who do not have the time to watch games all day long for three days straight.

As long as there is enough money to make playing in the online season, this setup could very well be the best for pro-gaming... until the day we all get 0 ping to every server in the world no matter where we live or where the server is.

that is not possible thanks to this thing called the 'speed of light'

if you crunch the speed of light vs the circumference of the earth the best we could ever hope for in pinging literally across the world is about 70, and that would be one really really long cable, don't you think

so who takes care of the coverage? itg?

i presume so as its GGL

Yes, iTG will be doing the coverage.

"The remaining places (5) will be filled by walk-up "Play-In" competitions the first day of DigitalLife."

Any known players going to attend?

i hope 2GD can get in the top 3
