I have had x-fi fatal1ty now for ~4 months or so, with no problems.

My windows jammed today, that is quite normal. So no worries, I grab my windows CD and start to reinstall (i do this like once a month).

So I get my windows reinstalled and start to install drivers when the fun starts. When installing x-fi drivers from the retail CD bluescreen pops up, I was like lol, reboot and try again. And guess what, bluescreen... I thought that I fucked up something in the service packs, driver etc installs, so I reinstalled windows again. I try to install x-fi drivers to totally fresh windows install and same shit bluescreen.

This point I'm starting to get little bit frustrated. Everytime before it has worked like a charm no problems etc (I haven't done any changes in my computer or so).. I downloaded the latest drivers from the creative site and tried with those. This time it didn't give me bluescreen, just whole system jammed. When I restarted my PC, instant bluescreen on windows flag + reboot. Ok, no problemos, safe mode uninstall x-fi and everything works again.

So I start to google around little bit, seeing loads of x-fi whine, no surprise i guess.. I update my BIOS to latest version (someone said that would help in some problems). Ok, it didnt help anything, same shit going on still.

Then I start to search in creative forums for help. There's thread about X-Fi and nvidia4 chipset motherboards... 750 replies..

Actually there's some Creative guy trying to help ppl out. He said that some Xtreme Music and Platinum sound cards can be fucked up with nforce4, so those who have problems with those should contact Creative customer support and get their cards exchanged. Nothing said about X-Fi fatal1ty tho.

Then I found the light, someone said that it could help that if I switch the card to another PCI-slot, and thats what I do. Now drivers installation works great and everything is working.

Could someone tell me why it did work before perfect and one day it just wont install? -_-

Guess I should contact customer support and get my card changed to avoid future headaches.
