What do u guys think about the update?

I was a bit shell-shocked at first.
The UI is more complex, but quite nice actually. Things like mouse accel, bot think time, common console commands are included in the menus. I think i like the UI.
Apparently they've added voicechat which is AWESOME!!
Losing friends and stuff really sucks tho.
Fentanyl, Lordsoth, VinOptimax and RACquestions please add me on steam. steam name: cr0pcircles.
I guess qlranks should be recoded to provide elo. I'm not sure if i like elo, it gives a sense of progression, but makes it tougher to deal with losing! I've seem some crazy negative rants on steam comments.
What do u think??

set up voice in steam settings, it must be push to talk for QL

/bind v +voice

is the default bind set.

In team games it will send voice to everyone until the game starts, once it's started it becomes team only.

(server owners can force it to be always to everyone though if they really wish with g_allTalk )

The game freezes for a split second whenever I release the button. Any idea what could cause it?

Using a logitech USB desktop mic. Windows 10.

At a guess it's just the resultant lag from having sent the voice data, but obviously that's not the case if you've been broadcasting for some time and it still only happens just as you let go of the bind, is that what happens?

It might even not actually be network lag at all but that there's a hitch updating the graph while it does something, a few people have mentioned it but it doesn't seem to be everyone.
Sponge has heard so it might get looked into.

Seems opening the sound manager and leaving it on the Recording devices tab while playing fixes it for some reason.

To be honest, I think the ship has sailed on Quake Live. It was a good concept early on in 2008-2009 and it was quite popular for a while, but all the backlash from the community over many years of poor decisions by the developers has really hurt the game. A large portion of the community already quit and moved on and the game isn't really bringing in many new players. While the update is definitely a step in the right direction, the fact that it came so late (7 years after beta), with the population dwindling, probably means it's just too little too late.

I am actually HAPPY!!
For one fucking year Sponge and SyncError acted as if they were incapable of a single good decision. For one fucking year they seemed to go out of their way to make Quake worse and worse for me!

And then one day...all my Quake problems went away!
Suddenly the old maps are back and the loadouts are gone. I can even play FFA on duel and CTF maps! I can host my own server and use my own scripts to manage it.

It's everything I ever wanted, and more than I dreamed I would get.

Two thumbs up from me

TY i just notice the CLAN ARENA filter :D tho its writen very small especialy when stoned to moon.

e : i clicked on a server which had tags looks like if u hover over the server tags and click it will add the tag to the filters... bad i think..

I find the new update an improvement , in every way . As time pass we will have stats and ranking back (maybe ladder ? who knows) . But of course the community must be unite and not whiny as always.

Its OK because there's more potential, but kinda sucks atm. no hats or gibs, no matchmaking, no stat database and no decent servers yet.
I liked how it was all integrated into the QL site personally, there was a hub to come to, the community hub on steam right now is really raw and empty.

I'm beginning to wish people wouldn't band about the term 'matchmaking' because by the Steam API definition, QL does actually now have it implimented https://partner.steamgames.com/documentation/api ;)

If I remember correctly syncerror said they would implement matchmaking, but seems like they didnt? I really would like a matchmaking feature with ranks like CS GO.

They implimented steam's matchmaking system https://partner.steamgames.com/documentation/api

Ok, but I mean a matchmaking like CS, you go into a party then search for a game, not going through a server browser. Maybe its possible to search for a game like cs?

The update is pretty nice so far with a couple of very small things which could be rectified. Still sometimes a little lag when players connect :/ I think so anyway it might just be my comp.. The worst thing is the default shuffle, played about 6 ca games today, every time finished 10-1 -10-3, it is nice to win always but is can be a little frustrating when there is no challenge. Can really tell now the LG is the stronger weapon to use, RL now feels less powerful but I love it :D.

I'm assuming you're Aussie, but I don't know why you are.

Some of our servers have been running 7lg, but I've contacted the server host and I'm pretty sure he was going to change it back. I think it was an accident.

Also people are used to the old, trash Sydney servers. Lots of people get much nicer connections to the new ones, and are hitting better because of it.

Yeah I think this update has ruined the game for me (Speaking as a relatively new player)

I played QL when it first came out and then stopped as my main game is cs. However recently I don't play much cs and was really enjoying QL but now it all seems ruined...

-no good FFA servers (freezetag and instagib are most populated ones lol)
-loadout gone in FFA
-community servers which had following seem dead now, I always knew when I logged in that some servers would be up to play now it just seems like a mess (all freezetag, CA even with filters)

I've lost the will to play this game now :/

Sadly with the update a lot of the people that played in DE, now plays in more local servers. That way the centric place the players gathered is gone. I wait a lot longer for someone to join. :)

finally community can take over with dedicated servers and much more with steam workshop and online stats (future..) etc.

also big + for finally setting up lan servers without help from id software
