It's like syncerror thinks the maps are real places that need to be closed to the public while building work is carried out...

I guess he thought the removed maps were of lesser quality than the rest, thus leaving a bad impression to "steam" players.

Would still be a wrong choice tho. Almost all those maps are Q3 classics, in a game that relies on that reputation and nostalgia.

oh they are updating terminus. made some pretty detailed plans to address the major issues people had with it (for tdm) but akm never had the time to do them. i wonder how they are going to update it :D

it's not that hard to block off some doorways and open up areas to make the map play completely differently

In addition to those reasons, I think it's because of the HMG.
Most of the maps in rotation have the HMG and the regular MG added as pickups.

I figured they didn't finish adding that 'upgrade' to all maps when they rushed out load-outs.

But I'm worried that these maps haven't come back yet.
It kind of feels like things at QL headquarters went off the rails right after the Steam release. A side from a few panic messages about technical outages, we haven't really heard anything from syncerror/sponge in almost a month. Makes you wonder what's going on behind the curtain.

The maps aren't the biggest priority right now. Most of those maps had very low activity.

I think they were concerned about how newer players would feel about some of those maps. Notice mostly the small, simplistic ones are missing.

Sadly that means some of my favorites for small ca are out. I hope they come back soon as well.

And one of the best for proper FFA, which is DM9.

The flow on that map is dreadful. Plus I can't tell you how many I won (and quickly!) just by camping the YA/RL and not even bothering with the quad.

I shouldn't be able to get away with something like that if the map is decent.

One of the most versatile FFA maps ever made. You can play it in so many ways; all rail, all lg, all rl, all sg, you can play a plasma heavy game or the healthy combination. Great opportunities for gauntlet kills at lg / rg jump pads and in the narrow corridors. The Quad is in a very risky place, making it hard to compete for it.

One of the best FFA map out there with a good flow. Just don't play against noobs and you won't win so fast. : P

Every room in that map is like "I better sit here for entire game".

i agree with pac... i just sit in LG room and control the LG the whole map... oh wait there are loadouts now.. shit

That's why it's versatile. Because every room are like that and you can use a big variety of weapons with great efficiency.

Yea, but this map just screams "Get another LG. Wait for spawn." over and over again. It's not bad map but fresh spawned player gets fucked pretty quickly.

Or rl or sg or rg or pg. Each weapon has the same effectiveness there.

Yeah and rl + lg are huge camp spots D: Sometimes when I killed someone with lg and waited for next pickup, someone spawned and I killed him too, so I waited for next pickup but next guy spawned... ; _ ;

Eviscerated didn't have very low activity. It was one of the better CA maps and one of 10 listed in QLRanks, as here: http://www.qlranks.com/ca/

I said most of them and not all of them for a reason.

I don't understand why they removed Eviscerated. It was a pretty popular map, and one of the best race maps imo.

question is how long do we have to wait until they're back? two years?

Don't get your hopes up of ever having that map back in the format you enjoyed. Mister steaming Pyle o' crap himself would have been contemplating for the last few months how he's going to edit the hell out of that map as well as the others, guaranteed. Look at what he did to Hearth with that extra connection to GL with Mega added - nobody asked for it, nobody benefits from the change (quite the contrary really) but because Pyle likes to control everything - including removing runes - he'll edit it just because he wants to.
