aAa is hardly ukn since aAa is an all-french organization, and they don't support quake anymore afaik. But hey, would be great.

If we manage to find at least a part of the funds required (50% or so would be great, we don't need everything to be covered) to go there, we will go.

But finding any sponsor willing to invest on Quake is a long shot to say the least nowadays.

Who exactly would be the team willing to go?

I'd donate some, and surely many would to see europe represented for CTF.

I'm glad to read that and that's probably a solution we will consider as a last resort but the overall cost for the whole team is no small amount. (we calculcated ~6k € tickets+hotel)

Whilst I would be excited to see Unknown go to QCon and hope you are succesful, but quite frankly you guys never respond to fans on IRC when they message you, fail to contribute anything meaningful to the CTF scene and are typical french attitudes. Amazing skill but no respect.

I agree that winz, may not be the most friendly guy around, but I can understand that he doesn't have the time or motivation to answer to everyone.

I can not speak for link but I very rarely ignore anyone on IRC or ESR. When I don't respond I'm simply not around so I doubt that part of his post was directed towards me.

There was a CTF team consisting of duel pros at Quakecon a couple of years ago, they did very bad if I remember correctly.
I think it was Cypher, Strenx, Cooller and Avek.

I'm not sure about the lineup I mentioned.
But there was once a duel allstar team competing in CTF.
I remember a vid of cypher wanting to take the enemy flag from their base not realising he is in his own base.

New Cerberon ist unplayable, no one likes Infinity the same for Stonekeep. But hey, how surprising is it, that Syncerror is forcing a map, he created....Boring. And ofc we wont see any game on stream as always.

Infinity is a great map, stonekeep isn't any worse then let's say shining forces.

New cerberon is as the name is NEW and it's worth giving a shot in a proper tournament before writing in it off. The same boring maps over and over is not what gives exciting games.

infinity was played many times at the ctf lan in april. I don't have stats, but i think it was the third most played map after, surprise, surprise, japanese castles and spider crossings.

Fact is that we don't know about how newcerberon will play, i don't know of any pickups played on the map - not even the first night - and whaz stream from NA CTF cup didn't cover the first round.

At QuakeCon 2012, Spider Crossings was actually the least played map, with a pool of: Ironworks, Japanese Castles, Reflux, Spider Crossings, Stonekeep.

What i was trying to say is that Infinity isn't disliked by so many ppl as anon seems to think and that newcerberon at least deserves to be played before being labeled as being "unplayable".

New Cerberon It is unplayable at least in a 4on4 Competition. 5on5 would work maybe, but on 4on4 it just dont work. Same goes for Stonekeep. But as Syncerror has made Stonekeep it has to be in the maplist....

Aha. Thats why Stonekeep never gets played in any Pickup or Tournament and Players refuse to play Infinity. Its such a great Map, that nearly no one wanna play it. But hey, if nobody plays a Map, then its goona be a good one...

This is great news to have CTF as a side team tournament and there's nothing left here except to stfu and be happy. What's not sitting well here is that the means this thing seem to come about.
~12 people who couldn't give less shit about CTF and NA CTF community lobbied for 2 months by "organizing" closed events to have a LAN tournament and they got it. Ok. The tip of the iceberg with no bottom whatsoever gets a shot at the ship that's sailing nowhere.

I wish id (company) was rewarding community when it was alive, and leaders that are selfless. I wish id was giving stimulus for new leaders to develop rather than giving into phony campaigns of those who are polar opposite.

With CTF being announced as the team event you will probably see some better quality duels. Whaz, id_, samer, and psygib just to name a few. So expect the duel competition to be more interesting from top to bottom.
