A lot of people were asking last Sunday what the Razer logos and ads were doing on our stream. Well, below you can find the official press release!

FACEIT, an advanced gaming tournament, cup and pick-up-games platform, have partnered with the leading gaming peripheral manufacturer, Razer.

Not a fan of razer, but looks like FACEIT has done something right and attracted a sponsor and for all I care it could be anything. Wonder if this will change the prize money (or additional gear) for Sunday cups.

I like quake and I want it to be "alive" as long as it can. Just as I see LOL dota2 and other few game player base and spec numbers, quake is so small. Why not pick something what is better for your business? Every week they have to feed crew (camera men, casters and so on), they invite some players to cast, it cost much, they keep faceit.com alive, they pay price money and so on and on and on.. So as I told, I don't know why they are still doing this with quake, in my pov, they soon will switch to bigger games (they are doing stuff with CSGO).
ps. and even if they will leave quake, we still will respect faceit team for what they ALREADY done to quakelive..

They've already said in an interview that they plan to add other (bigger) games later on.

They can obviously afford to run these tournies for quake so hopefully for us they will continue to run them alongside other games, which they also stated they will.

You know what?

I looked at live streaming section on the right, there were 15721 viewers for Dota2 and 92 viewers for QLRanks TV. Then next day I looked again. And there were 15720 viewers for Dota2 and 93 viewers for QLRanks TV. I bet that tomorrow there will be 15719 Dota2 viewers, and 94 QLRanksTV viewers.

Sure, for now other games have much better viewer count, but Facey are not stupid and they look towards the future, not towards the current moment. And the trend is obvious and inevitable: people start leaving other games one by one and they get into QL.

And one day, you will wake up in year 2056 and realize, that Dota2 has 0 viewers, and QLRanks TV has 15813 viewers. And the companies who chose Dota2 now, will suffer from their mistakes in the future, and regret their incompetent decisions, while Faceit will shine in all esports stronger and stronger.

They are on the right way and all will be good.

-Also, I didn't ask for your business advice, i'm not affiliated with faceit. And sure as hell hope they won't take yours either. What response are you hoping for exactly? Other games are bigger? Stop the fucking presses and let's make a pessimist argument about it.

Or are you just bitter that you didnt get to fulfill some pipedream you had baout quake being huge and you a star?

The reason for picking quake is not viewers and money.Quake is true e-sport and faceit is all about that. I am sure that even if they focus more on other games in the future, quake will be there and pwning.

I agree that we love quake and I also agree that quake will never be big as in taking the major spotlight in top attended lans and high prize money.

However, the game is old enough to have established a small but solid following that is still competitive enough to validate organization of leagues and tournaments on a smaller scale. But I guess we are different in the sense that I enjoy it simply as a game that gives me fun and you probably have aspirations of gaining some buck by being good at it.

This kind of derails the topic into a discussion what competitive gaming might be in the future as in esports. As of now it seems rather unlikely that a single game will establish as a football of gaming and become timeless and allow for actual careers and longevity in the business. It seems it's going to be more like games succeeding/replacing each other and fatal1ty's jumping from one to another... Which is never good for the long established player as in every few years the rules are re-written and what might have looked like a stable career and investment of time could become absolutely irrelevant the next day.

correct me if im wrong, but faceit only hosts duel cups for Quake live? hence me only mentioning duelers. doesnt it make sense to stay relative to the topic?

it seems like you want me to touch on other gamemodes (not covered by faceit) as well. Please then, name some TDM/CTF/CA players that use razer as well

I am using razer imperator for almost 2 years and still pwning. Also have lachesis(the form is strange, but for me it's actually ok)+using scarab mouse pad+used destructor and megasoma.. also had mamba(okish mouse, but HEAVY.. good for "showoff" tho). :D
Tbh razer mouses aren't that bad when used on razer hard/hybrid pads+they atleast feel expensive in your hand, not like g9x yuka plastic edition.

And yes kids.. mouse alone won't make you good aimer.
