dog - only if you have a garden, or if you have really nothing to kill your time with. maybe, only maybe if you have a big family where everyone willing to take part in caring for it.
despite the contrary its not enough to take them out 2x15 minutes a day to shit, some dogs needs hour-long running / fun everyday or theyll go crazy tearing your place apart etc.
it is also really sad seeing people who thought a dog will be easy but now they just think about it as "that fucking dog" like a burden in their life. but if u have a garden (an actual one not a 10x10 meter square the english tend to refer to as a "garden") i advice the kuvasz, especially if you live in a dangerous area. no one will ever reach your house =). or the komondor (bob marly dog), in its case everyone will invited to enter your garden, just noone gets out alive =)

fish - yeah theyre cool

snake - just no. especially a boa constrictor are you fucking insane? its not just you need to feed them with living / frozen mice and stink like shit they flat out dangerous once gets out of the terrarium. it also costs a lot of money to maintain their living conditions. snakes but especially boas are not domestic animals.

parrot - only if you let it free in your place most of the time even if it shits wherever it wants. keeping an animal (especially a bird) in a cage ten times its size just never cool.

i might advice degus. they really fun little rodent, just make sure you buy a big enough cage for them (and not a glass-walled terrarium). theyre like squirells without the tail - posses the same intelligence aswell. just be sure you keep them in pairs at least and not alone otherwise theyll die of depression - thats how social they are.

All animals except dogs are dumb and get boring very quickly. It has nothing to do with some 'mental abilities'.
Dog is the oldest domesticated animal and it evolved to live in herd with man and understand each other. It's the only animal that looks at your face and reads emotions from it (ok, highly domesticated cats do it too from time to time but I bet it's just because they want to scratch out these shiny eyes of yours :-) ). Also it can be trained to do things and train us to do things way better than any other animal (and I don't mean just tricks). It may sound as strange proof of intelligence but when you think about it - this is exactly the way we, people recognize intelligence in each other to large extent. The last but not least argument is that you can get truly emotionally attached to dog unlike any other animal.

On the other hand if you live in a city and don't have garden or don't intend to take it with you every day then please don't buy a dog. It doesn't deserve it and walking will soon become a cumbersome duty.
In this case just buy a fish ( I'd pick a fillet myself)) ) or raise yourself a half-wild city cat.

I haven't had snakes but I guess they are troublesome when you need to go away.

If you decide to get yourself a dog then consider getting it from dog pound or at least go there and see what they've got.

border collie, australian shepherd , or a mix
i much rather have a mix like i have atm (bortder collie/golden retriever mix) because they are healthier in general and live longer.
If you have a bike, walks in the park with a bike are perfect.
Also worth mentioning is that border collies are the smartest breed..can learn up to 150call words

I'd love a parrot (cute & very smart - as much as primates, elephants etc) but because they are so smart and require so much attention I don't think it would be a good idea for me - at least for now since I'm not really sure wtf I am doing (no real job, not living in my own place and shit...).

You have to take care of them like you take care of kids (because they are much smarter and much more complicated than dogs or cats) otherwise they will just go insane from boredom and kill themselves (or rather let themselves die). True story :(

However they also live about as long as humans (if you take good care of them) so you can have one same parrot your whole life :) For people like me with terrible social skills that's very attractive - basically a companion for life.

Also they can speak a bit (yes, they don't just repeat stuff they can actually learn and understand some things too).

Plenty of different parrot species though which means they are not all like that what I described - some species are not much different from your usual bird and so they are not as much of a hassle but are also a lot less interesting IMO.

To add to the parrot post: I've lived with three parrots before. My ex-gf had two, the third mine(her:blue front Amazon, Solomon Islands eclectus; me: Moluccan cockatoo) There is a vast difference among species and level of care, starting from the most difficult to easy:
macaws and cockatoos: you need a very large, heavy cage so they can easily flap and exercise, daily fresh vegetables(sweet potatoes are great), daily fresh water...not to mention outside-of-the-cage time for play and object destruction. These are incredibly social animals and need to destroy/chew things. Allowing them to simply climb on top of their cages all the time encourages them to be the "head of the flock" which means they may bite you to remind you of this.
african greys, amazons: not as much work as above, but similar diet(no seeds - just quality kibble from online like Ziegler or Harrisons)
conures, lories, budgies - easy and fun

Lastly, remember almost all parrots are noisy, particuarly at sunset. Encourage this, but put them to bed at a consistent time at night. Cover the cage if you can to enforce this. They like habit. Some parrots like cockatoos give off a dander that can harm your lungs over time. Run an air filter and clean the cage liners once a week. I used strips of old newspapers in the liners.
p.s. Parrots hide illness very well. The appeareance of their droppings give a clue, as well as sitting at the bottom of their cages, sleeping too much, etc. Finding a good avian vet is a must. Good luck.
