also dodging and timing and probably some more, since there too many skills that someone should have that is hard to remember all.

imo though aim and dodging (combat skills) are top (bigger than brain skills), if u don't have them u will reach pretty early the skillwall ((c) amOKchen, great word man).

it's the 2nd time u speak the voice in the back of my head, like u r in my mind. I was thinking him too, but since he is the only one, didn't think it's worth mentioning and he probably has great dodging and rl aim (which is aim too) and threfore, he has good combat skills.

great idea with the timers. They should make things like that available via maybe voting for beginners and everybody. Like someone that u know u beat enters the server and u know he can't time, he votes for being allowed to use timers, u can press f1 or f2. I wouldn't had problem pressing f1 and I guess meny others too. It could even make the game more interesting and less random and he wouldn't had any reasons to search for hacks (at least not for timers) or to whine because he can't time.

legal, nice, noob friendly and leaves the choice on u. And not only for timers, maybe for other things too. That way the game becomes very noob friendly but keeps its depth for the good players and the ones who like challenges.

Was somewhat sarcastic, I can only really enjoy playing when my aim/technical skill is at the level I expect it to be, like if I'm inactive and aiming what I consider to be badly for me, then I'm usually frustrated and not having fun. Even if I win a game I have to be performing well technically to enjoy it, when I lose I don't mind either as long as my technical skill is there at the right level. Probably sounds weird or badly explained but I hope you get what I mean.

I get it, you just want to be satisfied with your performance I guess.

Yeah same for me, my own level is more important than the result. I can be totally OK with losing if I feel that I played my best.

That timer idea is really ridiculous imo.. i mean.. like 50% of high lvl duel is all about timing .. even more considering all of them have good aim dodging tactics etc. It's the real difference between a semi and a pro .. it dictates almost everything your going to do in a duel.. even if for a noob it might help a bit it will in long term be bad for him imo because it will not allow him to evolve has he should.. more than that people start with that crap.. and when you notice everyone is using it!

if item timer would be then players wouldn't have such advantage and game would be more aim based, ofcourse in private server that option could be added. But for new players it's a lot harder they gonna smash keyboard and gg.

Game would become extremely dull aswell.. i mean i would like to have a big player based game like cs was in quake .. and we all know that it isn't due to alot of facts but one of the most relevants one is that the game is hard and it's hard to get good.

But still.. i think for the resilient players .. that's one of the main reasons the survivors play it .. because they are the ones who have the challenge inside of them and tbh duel with a timer would take that away from quake.

Imagine duel with that.. the game would be focused in 2 players jumping into items at the right time or challenging them all the time .. and more than that .. if you have a good spawn and ur a solid player.. it would be pratically gg.

For me quake is quake.. the way it is .. if it dies one day it will be like this.

PS : now that i think of it .. quake2 has a timer options that it's commonly accepted and allowed by the community and tournament site admins.. it's like an hotkey with a sound.. you hit it when you pick the armor or weapon and it activates the *.mp3 and then a voice screams 15secs.. 5secs etc.
Obvious to say.. i quit playing q2 even that it was for fun when that happened!
