if you are experienced with either WsW or Quake check and still want to compete in CPM check out the open cups ran by DMRadio in #dmradio on QuakeNet.

I tried one of these cups once. First match was against some really good player who was aliased, and I got raped obviously. He claimed a bunch of good players do it. So cpm noobs don't bother signing up your just getting set-up.

What do you mean 'figures you're american'.

You should realize that the majority of the duels in these cups are far from rape or one-sided. Strong one sided games always occur a few times but most of the time its only 3 out of 20 games or something. That means that a lot of newbies were able to get into some CPM competition without getting 50 - 0 rape games.

I cannot guarentee that you wont face someone who is still notably better than you are despite that you are both newbies. CPM is a great game in that it emphasizes difference in skill pretty strongly on the scoreboard. That is a _good_ thing.

I am sorry to hear you had a disappointing experience with one of our cups but I can tell that the majority has been enjoying it and has had a better experience.

I added clearer part in the newspost this time that te cup is not focussed towards warsow / quake veterans who are new to cpm.

i saw results (top3) from a few cups and sometimes real noobs were on the top but i've also seen some well known vq3 players playing in another cups...

Eh, scores in q3 (not to mention cpm) don't always reflect the closeness of the games. I'm not really sure why people think that close games = close scores, when that's really not always the case.

In CPMA the scores do actually reflect on how close the game was pretty well.

Yes but anyone who's a vet at quake or warsow will not even come close to the poor level of skill of a CS or CoD turned CPM player of 2 months. Even if you don't know the maps you still understand duel.

I've played CPM occasionally since this January. I'm not very good and haven't won a map yet in any of the US DMR open cups. I placed 3rd in a CPM duel tourney for new UT players last winter.

I'm not sure if I'm still a noob.
Because once in a while a players newer/worse than I will join and I'll beat them very hard and feel bad because they probably don't know how often that happens to me.

I played UT2k4 duel for about 8 months last year and mainly CS and WC3 for many years before that.

I'm not running the cup but I guess the rule is just to stop ruiners like noctis raping the tournament. I guess you can play :)

Great, so much activity from CPM community this summer.

Yeah cpma community is retarded. In the winters nothing happen but when the summer is all in its glory times THEN we going to launch cups like there wasnt any tomorrow.
