whats your average number of tabs when firefoxing the web? mine is 4-5, id say 7-8 is definitely dangerous waters!

how do you know what the tabs contain? im at 1600x1200 and above 20 tabs i cant read the tab descriptions

I'm using firefox so I can scroll between them, they don't get too small. That's in Opera. My resolution is 1280*1024.
I'm quite comfortable this way. The only problem is that in Vista it starts getting laggy or something when used too much.
Btw, in Linux (or new MacOS X) you get usually 4 or more virtual desktops, that helps a lot.

Why do you need to read the tab description? I can't either. Opera and other browsers have image preview, though, but that's just ANNOYING, in my opinion.

I don't need to "read a tab description." I KNOW what pages I have loaded in my browser, and I'm good enough with the keystrokes to manage them very efficiently.

MDI in Opera and Ctrl-Tab, Ctrl-F4, Ctrl-F6, etc, etc in Firefox. What's the problem?

um ok.. well, I really don't care that much if some random dude on ESReality believes me when I tell him how many tabs I have open in my web browser.

I did have a screenshot before with 150 tabs open, though; but, unofrtunately, I must've deleted it. nevertheless, just randomly browsing through my image directory managed to turn up two completely unrelated screenshots that just so happen to be indicative of my normal usage patterns (in a single firefox window):
